We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Just finished dinner (everyone is taking turns cooking; tonight was our turn). We finished up as the fucking O'Reilly TV show was coming on, and Tim's dad HAD to watch it (the TV is in the family room, which is really just half of the large open family room/kitchen combo, so hanging out upstairs means being confronted with that vile propaganda.

Conveniently, my back hurts and I need to lie on the heating pad.

I love Tim's father, I do, but I also can choose what I'm exposed to in the way of media, and this is my goddamn vacation. So I'm lying on a heating pad and surfing the internet.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Apologies to any buffistas in the UK who are feeling a burning sensation. My death glare at my colleagues over there is set at 11, so there may be some spillover.

giraffe mode

Steph, you just described the last 4 years of my life with my MiL. Fox News on from 8 to 8 every day on not one, but two TV's (family room and bedroom). I had to cook every night wearing my iPod. Now that she's in assisted living I don't know what to do with myself in the kitchen. I can actually cook and watch what I want. (Hope the back feels better soon!)

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

I once complained about the constant TVs on at a friend's house and he said it was just like that at my house, too & I said, "But just during football season... and baseball season... but that's sports!"

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Sorry, Nora. I think I was massively unhelpful there and could have been read as being judgy. I was surprised to find out how connected it was FOR ME, is what I was trying to say--not for everyone.

I'm sorry too- I did understand you weren't being judgy, and I was gonna go back and edit accordingly and then work interfered (as it does).

I went to Whole Foods and scrutinized every can and package (well, I mostly got vegetables and meat stuff, but canned tomatoes and black beans as well.)

smonster, I go to Swan River Yoga-they have a studio on Magazine (just off Jackson) and also one down the road from work in Mid City. They are nice, but they kick my ass a lot. Some of the instructors do Hindu chants at the start and end of practice. I signed up for a beginners class tomorrow night (7:30-8:45pm), if you want to join me- new students get one class for free!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

canned tomatoes and black beans as well.

Canned goods in general but canned beans in particular were my You Must Be Kidding Me in terms of stealth sodium. And I didn't notice because I was trying to be aware of sodium. I was tracking my eating habits with a program that calculated it for me and I was stunned.

WF had a couple brands that were salt free and then I saw the Goya with salt with a zillion mg of sodium.

Does it help if you rinse?

move out and draw fire

So....I'm in Roswell. It's hot. Really hot. And yet? Still more comfortable to me than Virginia.

And this part of NM at least isn't on fire.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Statistics say rinsing reduced sodium by 40% to 60%. I have no idea of how to tell if the result is on the high end or low end, so always count rinsed beans as having 40% less sodium than the label to be on the safe side.

In other health news - got an extremely painful large cyst on my stomach. Doctor cut it open to drain and will remove once it heals and hardens so they don't have to do surgery on something mushy. Unsurprisingly, though this will give relief in the long run, immediately is still painful.
