Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I suppose flowers would be nice now and then, but mostly it's not something I care about much. Or, to put it another way, any small gift is just as nice. Possibly the best "just because" gift I ever got from someone I was dating was the guy who gave me a set of Umbrella Academy pins. It was super thoughtful; I'd been geeking out over the comics earlier, and he remembered and went to the comics shop and picked them up for me. Very sweet.

Glad to hear the interview went well, askye!

Sorry you're having a bad day, Barb. Would it help to apologize to Lewis?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I'm more into that sort of thing. Flowers seem so generic. I don't like giving for the sake of giving; if I'm giving you something, I want it to have meaning.

“Not dead yet!”

Sorry you're having a bad day, Barb. Would it help to apologize to Lewis?

I did-- problem is, I've had a lifelong history of doing that even when it's not warranted, just for the sake of keeping peace, which then has left me even angrier/unsettled. In this case, it was a warranted apology, but it's hard to shake the angry/unsettled.

Perhaps I should just go to bed.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I want it to have meaning.

Flowers have lots of meanings. Apparently you're unaware of the Language of Flowers.

Well, I'll remember that if I date a floriographer.

Or somebody into Victoriana, possibly even a Steampunk.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

There's rosemary, that's for remembrance; pray, love, remember. And there is pansies; that's for thoughts.

There's fennel for you, and columbines.

There's rue for you and here's some for me: we may call it herb of grace a Sundays.

Compassionately intolerant

Good luck askye! On our last visit I commiserated with the vet...Your job is about 33% animal care and 66% dealing with difficult people, right? She looked like she might cry from gratitude over the understanding.

As for flowers. I'm a former...sometime current florist. You'd think that would make me a huge fan. Not so much, really. I do love them, but to have them in my house, they must be special and long lasting. Roses...never. I've spilt too much blood over them.

I do love the scene in Stranger than Fiction when Will Farrell's character says to the baker, "I brought you some flours." That made me really happy.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Want to give me something? Give me nail polish (though I'm sort of on a break from it right now)

Which reminds me, I have some nail polish for you.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Both our dogs are in getting their teeth cleaned this morning. I am also a bit on the nervy side about it.

Anaesthesia and sedation are nothing to sneeze at. They carry risk. The risk is pretty remote, but it is there. Dental care is, I think, worth the risk in general (exceptions made for individuals who have known risk factors contraindicating anaethesia or sedation, of course). But lots of pet-dental~ma for those in need.

IOmememeN, it is 98.6˚F (37˚C) here. Humidity is pretty low, so it could be a lot more miserable. But I think me and Daniel's nephew Chris are the only people in the state who are really enjoying it. I am looking forward to mowing the lawn after Daniel's cousin gets done fixing the Grand Am so Daniel can get away from driving the gas-hog Dodge Ram. Steve has many allergies, and grass is apparently one of them. In the meantime I am happily putting laundry out on the line, and looking for more laundry to do.
