Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm a bit bummed about missing it.

Not "cancel the trip of a lifetime" bummed, but a bit.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

tapering off Welbutrin

Oh, hi. I might be doing this soon. I started Wellbutrin more than 9 months ago, and I think it's been acceptable as an AD, though not fantastic, BUT it's fucked up my sleep patterns so badly I can't even tell you. Also, my anxiety has gone through the roof in roughly about the same time frame. I don't know if it aggravates my anxiety, or just fails to help what anxiety is pre-existing.

But I don't think the therapeutic benefits are worth the side effects.

The problem now, of course, is that I don't know if I should switch to another AD or just taper off and see how I feel. I know -- and history has shown -- that when I go off ADs, I'm back on them within 6 months. So I ought to switch to an SSRI. But they make me gain weight and mess with my sexytimes, and it's turning out that a lot of the generic SSRIs also give me an allergic reaction.

That would be no huge deal, because my doctor can just write the Rx for the brand name. But when our insurance switches over in June, the co-pay for brand-name, even when the doctor says it has to be brand-name, is $50. Jesus. I know it's worth it if the drug helps, but...I don't know.

I'm mostly inclined to just taper off for now and see how I feel. Because then the option to re-start something is always there.

Mostly, I just want to see if stopping the Wellbutrin makes me actually sleep like a normal person. Or sleep more than 5-6 hours a night. I feel like maybe getting 8 hours of quality sleep a night, for more than 1 night at a time, might actually help my mood, you know?

So, anyway. Doctor appointment tomorrow morning. I look forward to the roller-coaster of tapering off Wellbutrin.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Ugh, Steph. Honestly no antiD has ever really helped me, so I totally get the reticence for trying something new that maybe won't work. Yet I am so amazingly in favor of people taking advantage of ads that work for them... It's a bitch.

Does he have a deece car?

He's in. It's not the best car but he's got his shot.

I am bummed that I had the tiniest glimmer of attending the Nascar race in Charlotte, NC next weekend. They have a massive screen and will show ALL of the Indy stuff on the crazy awesome screen. But I can't even pretend to take advantage of the tickets.

It's Tracy. He's got the horn. Always.

Love him.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Steph, of course YMMV but since wellbutrin is also used to treat ADHD it can easily disrupt sleep patterns and alter your metabolism in wierd ways. I had no trouble tapering off the wellbutrin, but did it pretty slow - in 2 month increments. tapering off the celexa, OTOH, was pretty much a no-go. It was funny, my (sometimes very thin already) filters pretty much disappeared. Getting through a day at work without pissing someone off was nearly impossible. Mentioned that to the Dr and she said it does sometimes have that effect on people. Tact. In a pill.

The status is NOT quo.

Fwiw, Pristiq was the magic drug for me. Once I gave up on Wellbutrin (I had similar side effects unexpectedly after a couple of years of no problems), I told the doc I didn't want to go back on one of the SSRIs because of the weight gain/sex issues, and he suggested this magic new drug. And...well, it's magic. For me, anyway. No anxiety (beyond normal), no depression, and no weight gain. It is brand name only, unfortunately, but it's been worth every penny for my sanity.

ETA: WOO HOO TRIP, TRUDY! Have so much fun!

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Wellbutrin gave me a 24 hr anxiety attack. I didn't stay on it long.

Generic Zoloft is, so far, treating me right. But I started it around the same time I changed jobs, so it's kind of hard to tell how much was drugs and how much situational.

God, why is moving so expensive? I'm reconsidering my rental truck plan and thinking about not taking any furniture and just shipping stuff. IDEK.
