I am alive and feeling better. smonster, thank yoou for calling me, it means a lot! I've promised to go to the damn doctor tomorrow and make sure I don't have pneumonia.
Almost fainting on my kitchen floor scared the crap out of me.

Can you find a local desk of the rental company you used and have them change over the card before you get on your next flight?

I think the issue is it's an unmanned parking lot where you swipe your card in lieu of having a ticket.
My hunch is that Daniel's idea may work, since they are reading the basic data off the card to get the time/date info. But if there is a way to contact the lot it probably wouldn't hurt - there must be cases where people have lost cards before.
The credit card company might have seen this come up before too - might be worth asking them.
it's not a rental car, it's my own car.
Right now, I'm too tired and frustrated to deal with making a bunch of phone calls. I'll see what I can do when I get there.
There is going to be a button to push or a number to call when you get there, Hil. It's not worth getting worked up over. They've needed to deal with this situation before, surely. And before the card entries, with people losing their tickets. Get there and deal with it then. Don't stress.
That's what I'm trying to do, cass. Nothing I can do until I get there. Right now, I'm just hoping that, unlike the last two flights I was supposed to be on, this one will not be canceled.
I would say that I'm not flying us airways again, but as long as I'm living where I live, and my relatives are living where they live, I don't have many options.
Nothing I can do until I get there.
Pretty much. And I really think they'll have a stream-lined way to deal once you are there.
smonster, I am sorry you were laid off but I really think this might be an opportunity for you. Wishing you calm through it though because, opportunity or not, stressful.

And, there go the tornado sirens. Crap. And what the hell am I supposed to do about the cookies I put in the oven two minutes ago?
Anne, flip on the TV/radio/interwebs to see how severe the weather is and what the path is, and how long before it gets to you. That way you can calculate if you have enough time to leave the cookies in the oven.
Also, be safe.
Also, NO THANKS for sending that stuff east. It's my understanding that SW Ohio is going to get a wrath-of-god style storm after 11 pm.
At this rate, it looks like the bad stuff is going to skirt just east of me. I've got the TV on, and things look NASTY. The temp has dropped 30 degrees in the past hour.
Teppy, I hope the storm loses a lot of its oomph before it gets to you.
The cookies are safe, and so am I. The cat is no longer freaking out, and has emerged from behind the electronics in the entertainment cupboard (he feels compelled to hide among the wiring during electrical storms) and is demanding pettins. He's a fairly decent barometer, all told.
