Last year when I turned
::gulp::
40 my buddy C (whom you may recall surviving a stroke about 5 years ago now) told me he couldn't make it east for my shindig, but that he'd get me a ticket to visit him in SF for a birthday present.
Then I went to Florida, and the trip got delayed.
Then I got back and pretty immediately began the process of getting insurance and then surgery -- and the trip got delayed again.
Last Thursday he called me and the following conversation transpired:
C: So, are you all better yet?
T: Well, that depends on one's definition of "all better". Can I meet a visiting friend for dinner? Yes. Can I shop and wander museums with him? No.
C: Well, when
will
you be all better?
T: It's hard to say, I'm getting stronger, my stamina is increasing...
C: Will you be all better by _______?
T: Sure! I should be better by _______!
C: Want to go to Morocco?
I'm floored. I'm thrilled. He's had this trip planned for himself for a while and decided to take me on his miles and stick me in his rooms for my birthday present. He had been waiting for my feet to start recovering to see if it was even feasable for me to go.
Dude, I'm going to Morocco.
Specifically, Marakesh and Fez. I can hardly stand it. Aims, I am going to ride a camel.
That's a way cool birthday present, Trudy.
I spent the next day getting my expedited passport renewal papers in before the government went away.
Then it stayed. Ah well.
Awesome present, Trudy!
Awesome present, Laga!
Shir, insent.
Thanks, Ginger! Though I feel as if I should revise "speaks English fluently" after what you've done there.
Ah, Buffistas. I love you. Because you know the Montreal Opportunity is all your fault, too, right?
Trudy, that's amazing!!! I'm so happy for you!
In meme news, I have completed another set and am taking one more short break before I tackle the final five. Whoever introduced me to the Rule of Five is my best friend right now.
ETA: Oh! I meant to add how wonderful Laga's gift-and-post was.
Trudy, that's an awesome present!
I despair of finding another make up line that has something like Aromaleigh's CL tones.
I am so, so glad I was able to stock up on L1 and OO. I opened my drawer of them and gloated to myself just the other night.
What is the Rule of Five? Five papers, take a break, five papers, have a drink, five papers, have five drinks, like that?
Someone here or in Natter was talking about a way to combat task avoidance and said that they used the idea that you start by telling yourself you only have to do five of something--wash five plates, grade five papers, etc--and that usually those initial five led to more productivity, but even if it doesn't you are five closer than you were before. I love this. It really helps my ADHD tendency to avoid, avoid, avoid.
I'm pleased that I have a few containers Aromaleigh stashed but I know it will not be enough. So I despair.
Really, I think I am going to run out of the finishing powder first.
