billytea, I was always impressed at the number of women actuaries at DH's last insurance job. I think the financial field might be different but I know that the VP in charge of Nationwide's international investments was a woman.
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
billytea, I'm so glad you are one of us!
Tep , I am sorry there is way too much stuff on you plate. Good luck
I didn't see what you saw in the conversation,Dasiy, but others did. Maybe because I gave up make up long ago. and gave up covering the grey . and I don't/can't flirt. there are some stories that helped me chose this ay, but I have strong no fuss leanings anyway
Ugh Steph. I really get your position. Accepting that Tim's life is your life is one thing, but his ex's son seems like a burden he isn't obliged to take on. I hope it all works out.
1. The firm should hire more girls (entire conversation, never women, just girls), and should make sure they're good looking.
2. The firm should apply the "wall test" to any new female hires. (i.e., have them stand up and walk towards the wall. If they touch the wall nose-first, they're out.)
3. However, women (sorry, "girls") make bad financial advisers, because women in that role aren't feminine enough.
Oh for fucking fuck's sake. Seriously, I hate everything.
I've been skimming and billytea's post just made my head explode.
Are you posting from the 50's now, billytea?

Seriously. My industry has more than its fair share of alpha male crap, but I've never before worked in a place with such little regard for this stuff. Hell, in my Philadelphia office I saw disciplinary action taken against someone for emailing an anti-gay joke. I really have no experience dealing with this kind of thing before.
Billytea, my sister's industry is like that. With added 'it's bad luck for a woman to touch anything on a boat' goodness. I have so much admiration for how she gets things done and sets people straight when she can.
Steph, Kat, Pix, and all the buffistas whom the universe needs to take out to a four-star dinner and apologize, I hope things turn around. Steph, I hope Tim's ex' son gets to Texas as soon as possible.
I'm getting my Japan news from Rachel Maddow tweets and Ginger. And hoping.
Zuisa, I'm glad you are safe in Australia. To everyone worried about family and friends in Japan, I have no words, only much ~ma and hope. Japan~ma, planet.
(I'm afraid that was something of a cross-thread meara, but I'm tiny screened & low battery. It's what I can do. )
Yikes, billytea. I am blessed to be surrounded by wonderful men that would be equally appalled by such attitudes. It is rare when I encounter blatant sexism or bigotry, mostly because I protect and shelter myself. This protection makes it that much more shocking when I hear or experience it first hand. I applaud people who attack the attitudes head on, Go Shir! (and I know others too, but Shir comes to mind first because she is the opposite of all talk and no action)
Watching Japan reports. Scary stuff.
Mr Peabody had another seizure in the middle of the night, so I guess it's back to the drawing board as to the cause. He seems fine today, so I guess I'll take him back to the vet Monday. Poor boo.
