I'm not talking about not trusting friends, etc.. I'm talking about working with people, academically and in work, and in volunteering gigs. And you know what? Only rarely, very rarely, I worked with people I can really trust. People that I didn't need to nag and babysit every time.
I have no problem remind people they said they'll do this and that in x or y, and checking up on them. It's tiring sometimes, but I understand that's part of the deal, and why some people choose to work with me - because I check up on people, making sure they're doing whatever needs to be done. It's a problem when I do that, and yet, they can't be bothered telling me when there's a problem.
So, humans - why? Why messing with my mind? Why playing it this way?
Buffistas are gold.
Other people... well, they're others.
Happy Birthday!! To Pix and Maria!
I rented a place off craigslist (a sublet) without seeing it, but Plei kindly brought the girl money and got keys for me. One yhing to consider--how quickly do people/places rent? I realized here in Seattle they generally go on craigslist when they're open or not lOng before whereas in DC it was "as soon as the current renters give notice", so a month before. If it wouldn't be lOng could you crash with will for a week til you find a place?
If I didn't have cats things would be going a lot easier.
Yeah, but then having cats makes some things in life go a lot easier. It's a balance thing.
Happy birthday wife!
So sorry I am once again gone on the day.
Wishing you a happier birthday, Pix.
And a happy birthday to Maria, too.
Don't know how shiny and distracting this is but while we were at Emmett's Krav class today, we played with a sweet young boxer named Ryla. The thing that was nice was that she wanted to play a little rough, but she had such a soft mouth. And it just made me think about how dogs know to temper that instinct when they're play fighting. It's oddly cheering to have that bit of trust between species. "I'm going to stick my hand in your mouth and I know you're not going to bite me."
Then Matilda went upstairs to the Situation Room and stood on an exercise ball and punched the dummy (aka, Bob).
Does anyone have advice for moving across country? Especially trying to find a place to live before moving.
Look for nearby Trader Joe's.
I actually did a sublet off CList, as well.
Happy Birthday, Pix and Maria!
Atlanta has a big airport. One more flight today.
Happy birthday to Pix and Maria!
I could barely type that, as the wine has apparently gone to my head. (I literally ran out on a post-committee-meeting dinner, following a planning meeting for my LGBT Christian group for the festival that I go to in the summer, because I'd been trailing after them while they changed their mind sixteen times about where to eat, and eventually the final place could only seat us downstairs [i.e. down a couple of flights of stairs], and I went 'You know what? Screw this and screw you all' and went home. Where The Girl got me wine. But it's all fine and I'm really not crazy.) Yes, wine is nice.
