Wishes for sweet sleep for the PixDesigns. May cats and nurses not cut it short for them.
Eyes own four-legged contingent. Yes, maybe all the feline agitation got channeled into Harvey and Sammie.
meara, that seems a shame to not get a muffaletta while you are in the Land of Muffalettas.
Shir, I have nothing useful to say, other than I'm sorry your friends have not come through for you.
Teppy, may the cheese be tasty and satisfying, and the beer excellent.
Slips some Milk of Magnesia tabs into Teppy's bag, just in case.
I am up way too freaking early, and at the NOLA airport.
Come back again soon! I think you hit a lot of the good food though, even sans muffeletta. (Monday red beans & rice is key!)
Mmmm, muffeletta....maybe I can get to the FQ this afternoon for lunch!
Someone in the twin cities had their old house remodeled and found a 90-year old stash of booze:

Ugh, I'm sorry to hear you feel so lousy, Steph, but yeah, two deaths is a lot of sadness to bear.
I have to laugh, because a friend texted me last night -- and I know it was totally meant to be all supportive and I-got-your-back -- but he said something along the lines of "I know how hard it is...my grandmother always said deaths come in threes, and I've never forgotten that."
Uh, thanks? Cause, see, there have ONLY BEEN TWO. So now I just get to wait for the next one?
(I don't actually believe the whole "happens in threes" thing, but still -- doesn't that sound more like the kind of thing you'd NOT say if someone had only lost TWO loved ones?)
Heh. Oh man.
This is why we humans like to think before we speak. Some of us, anyway.
Pshaw, Tep, everyone knows that's only famous people.
Two weeks away and a lot to catch up on!
Firstly, all the ~ma in the world to Drew and Pix. My thoughts are with you both.
Also, Steph, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Separate post to say that my holiday was awesome, if packed to the gills with doing stuff, which is why I didn't even try to organise a Buffista f2f (sorry Bostonistas!).
It was G’s 30th birthday, so we went to Fenway on the day, plus dinner out. There was also his mom’s birthday, a family dinner for his birthday, and a cookout for friends and family. Also, two weddings, three days on the Cape, a day in Salem, lots of hanging out with nephew and nieces. Also, my first experience of poison ivy, which, wtf nature? Why did you do that? You’re kind of an asshole.
I was so ready to be on holidays and I am so relaxed after it. Even the three hour trip to the office this morning because of a tube strike didn’t stress me out unduly. The only difficult parts of the holiday were knowing that we get to see G’s family so little, but there’s no practical way to see them more. Also, G’s grandfather is fading, and his family have made the decision to change him from nursing care at the home to hospice care, so our last visit to him was pretty upsetting for G. That said, his grandfather has been ready to go for a long time now and all the family there have accepted that. Again, living abroad comes with so many difficulties.
bah, got another email from our neighbors about our tenants. Much more reasonable and specific. I think I will not be telling Tom about this, he's just starting to calm down from the last situation.
I'm gonna hire a property manager to deal with this.
