Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
My other favorite part was the fact that the priest sounded JUST LIKE the priest from "Princess Bride".
That guy did a family wedding once too. My mom and I were in quiet hysterics through the whole thing. Well, we tried to be silent. Mostly we looked like we were Very Emotional.
Then we went back to my place, rented Princess Bride, drank a bottle of wine and laughed ourselves into tears. Best.
Here is a new version with the photo resized. Thumbs up or down?
I don't know that it helps and one of the problems is that, while I like the photo in general, it is not the highest quality.
Another question - will the "complementary consultation" text be a link?
I'm with you...and tried to place a hyperlink in the pdf, but it didn't work. I'm not sure how to make that particular phrase stand out without the added color.
"life-changing life coaching."
Fixed.
This will be an electronic tool only. I have a bunch of printed cards that aren't doing much good. People take them, but don't have them in their pocket when they run into the person they want to give it to, etc.
I'm hoping that having something to email or a link to click on the website will make it easier.
This is my totally unhelpful advice. I always prefer this type of material without photo. In my experience my opinion is the complete opposite of the entire population, therefore; the with photo option is likely the best choice. Seriously, when it comes to marketing wisdom I seem to always be in the minority. This is why I stick to technical.
I like the clean look of the no-photo card, but at the same time as I was realizing that, I had that little thought in my head that some marketing expert probably would advise how a photo tends to make people feel more connected, and therefore more likely to make contact.
My little punctuation quibble is the colon after "Kids (7&up)" - it makes sense for it to be there, but since there is not one after "Adults" the lack of parallelism jangles a bit. It is not necessarily wrong, I just don't like it.

A really good friend officiated the wedding of another friend, using this voice. It was funny for the first few lines...for those who knew the movie...but this friend has a fairly dramatic stammer as it is, and the groom's international family was mystified. So, it ended up being one of those jokes that was much funnier on paper.

SEE!! This is the stuff I don't see. I could have sworn I removed that. Thank you so much!

I definitely like that one better than the first photo card. And I feel that the larger photo is more likely to accomplish the formation of that feeling of connection than the smaller photo.
Say, is beth around - or anyone else who might know the reading preferences of ten year old girls? I posted a request in Facebook for recommendations, because a friend at work asked me if I know anybody who could give her a hint about a birthday present to give her boyfriend's daughter. I'm hoping for responses in FB because then my coworker will be able to see it as well. But you never know who will see what FB post, which is why I'm mentioning it here, too.
I don't know any 10 year old girls at the moment, Andi, but I do enjoy Carl Hiaasen's children's books.
They have strong female characters (though not the protagonist) and good messages about self-determination and personal responsibility...plus, they are funny as all get out.
Hey Andi, if she's at all like Kara, Dead Boys by Royce Buckingham; Dreadful Ed and Mary Scary both by Andrew Cosby; all the Goosebumps books, but especially the Horrorland series...she's been on a kick. She's also reading a lot of tweeny manga and books about or featuring fairies.
(Not really here, I'm sick and wandering the web in search of distraction before I try to ignore the seasick to see if I can sleep.)
Hey, thanks bonny and Deena! I'll C&P those ideas over to my friend.
P.S. Deena, feel better soon!
