My favorite boss at the restaurant was the one everyone else hated. You always knew exactly what was expected on her shifts. I so much prefer that to the slacker boss. People called her a bitch (behind her back) when she called them up at home and made them come back and finish their sidework or be fired. She didn't call me- my sidework was done correctly.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Yup, that was my boss, as well. Demanding but fair. I don't need pretty speeches, just tell me what to do, and let me know I got it right, and I'll fling myself in front of buses for you.
Um. Metaphorically.
My favorite developer here is a woman many people think is a scary bitch. But, her way of bluntly stating the way things are makes my life so much easier. If she says, "No. We can't do XYZ without affecting 123, and that's not doable in this kind of build." I know exactly what I can go back to the table with.
My boss is also awesome. She's not a micromanager, and I like that if I do something wrong, she send a quick email, or says something without dwelling on it or having to have a "Oh my god how could this have happened!!!" meeting. Also, when I'm being blamed for something, she's got my back. (And she likes Buffy, Angel, Firefly, White Collar, Fringe and Justified, so there's that).
omg D just brought me a bacon/jalapeno omelet. That zucchini wasn't very filling anyway.
"yes to life! yes to love! yes to staying in more!"
I'm totally turning into Liz Lemon. But with contacts. And cargo pants/tshirt uniform instead of jeans/vneck sweater/button down shirt.
So shall i stay in tonight and make cookies (preferred) or go out to the local science museum's adults only night? Going out costs $10 and i'm unlikely to talk to anyone. But it does look interesting.
And he did the dishes! It's like my brithday started 1 day early.
If given a choice, I would always go with Science.
oy. This day started WAY too early. OMG! Blah. Humbug. And I still have two more meetings to go! I need a shot of something to perk me up. Ran out of steam at lunch.
I have wholly unreasonable love for SE:SA's "Like This Like That".
I have often been picked up as being not friendly enough in the office. And I work with actuaries. (Used to, anyway.)
I like my current job, but I have no desire whatsoever to be friends with most of my work colleagues, especially those with whom I work most closely. Whenever we have a social do, over 90% of the conversation is on one of two subjects:
1. Sports, specifically Aussie Rules, cricket and soccer (none of which particularly interest me)
2. What I would euphemistically describe as 'gender relations'.
I spent most of these events alternately bored and appalled. Not looking to continue the experience outside of work hours.
Condo suckfest continues. Just crossing everything that the crazy lady living there leaves as planned.
My neighborhood is making me cry today. A neighbor moved to oregan to help her son get a kidney transplant. His first was at age 7 - and today he got another. Her thank you was enough, but then some one else got on the egroup and started listing all the good things that people do for each other around here. there may be a huge amount of stupid stuff on the egroup - like traffic stories - but a good place
