This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

“Not dead yet!”

Sewers.

I'd think the rats would protest.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

If I believed in hell, I would believe that the Devil is building a special new section, just for the WBC.

Wow, I'm sleeping a lot. The sore throat has been replaced by snot, mostly, and I still don't really have an appetite, though I am eating what I can.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

If you really want to learn more about the WBC, I found Keith Allen's documentary to be very good. It's hard not to be physically ill but his approach helps.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I think its time to start ignoring Westboro Baptist.

Stop giving a shit if they yell outside a funeral, you know? Sure its a dick thing to do but doesn't make anyone any more dead, its disrespectful as hell but it doesn't make that day any worse or the loss any more profound. Ignore them. They want attention and we're all giving it to them.

I would love to see networks and newspapers announce en masse that this is not newsworthy and they're not going to discuss it any more.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I've heard from several sources that WBC is a for-profit scam. Doesn't mean they don't believe most of the shit they say, but doesn't mean they do either. Fundamentally their schtick: engage in the most provocative disgusting behavior against people already under emotional stress that is legal and protected under the first amendment. Hope that someone violates their legal rights . Win big bucks in court. I think the word has spread so that people are as careful to keep counter-protests legal as WBC is to keep their actions legal. Which people should in any case. Really even dicks should not have free speech rights violated. But until recently provoking illegal behavior and suing was a successful revenue model for the single family that constitutes this church. Last few years not so much. I wonder if we can go long enough with nobody giving them a basis to sue and win, if they will run out of money.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

TB, I would completely not be surprised if that's their MO.

Angry Girl who was ready to quit yesterday texted me today and told me she loves me. Oh, bipolar, how you run hot and cold. eta that is not meant to be disrespectful or dismissive of the struggles of those with bipolar. If anyone feels it is, I will modify/delete. I recognize that my difficulties handling an employee is nothing compared to actually having them onself.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

One definite plus in the elopement column is continuing to get random presents in the mail months later. One of my mother's friends whom neither of us have seen in several year just sent me a bunch of things from my registry. She was way too generous; I'm kind of stunned. I'm really going to have to make plans to see her soon to thank her.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

typoboy, that's a really good point. they seem to be funding their jackholery with court winnings, and flying around the country is spendy. i wonder how long it'll take them to run out of money without that source of income? it's not like they have time for real jobs with multiple protests every day....

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

I just have to share a (non-buffista) friend's response to WBC: "I'm not personally religious, but having the Westboro Baptist Church protest your funeral is the surest sign you can have that you will be accepted into God's hands." Right on dude, right on.
