Thanks so much for the support, lovely Bitches. I'll keep you posted. I'm considering asking The Girl to come home early from Israel so that she can help me fight these idiot support people. She's the one force in my life that makes a practical difference (and I'm so grateful for that).

Oh, that could be goooooood.
Um. we will be in Spain this summer. Drew, England isn't that far from Spain...?!?
Pix, if you come here, make sure you visit!
Shir and Seska=awesome! go you guys!
What did I do? Thanks for the thoughts, but it's only Shir who's awesome! This Hollaback stuff is utterly fantastic.
Oh, and Shir? You are totally an activist, and not just someone who complains into your computer. You were an activist the moment your response to being harassed on the street was to set up Hollaback, in the hope that it wouldn't happen to anyone else. I'm completely in awe.
As much revolution has been brought about by the pen as by the sword, Shir. I'm so proud to know someone who is making such a difference.
Seska, can you get a student assistant through the university? I don't know if you have anything like work-study there.
I guess today is one of those days where the power of language- good and bad-is demonstrated

Oh God, how I crave to see this.
I hope you'll get the girl by your side soon, Seska.
As for Hollaback, I still count you accountable, people. You're the ones who told me all about it. But I'm an enabler, not a leader. I can create the space, but it's for the use of others. As someone phrased it: "the club is for everyone. We're just the bouncers at the entrance, making sure no troll shall pass".
Shir, this is so awesome, I have shivers!
Seska, I hope you can get the support you need without jumping through too many hoops. What a clusterfuck.
Seska, that sucks. I hope you can get the decision reversed.
Shir, that is amazing!
And DCJ, it goes without saying, the way you took care of Andi this week, that you are the rockinest.
This may be the truest true thing that was ever truly stated.
Points to what Barb said, as I can't say better than the writer lady.
Shir-awesome. Seska-kill 'em a lot. Andi-awesome plus welcome back, and Daniel-points for support.
This?
I came across an item today for sale with no explanation: "Electric Thumb Warmer."
I Googled it of course, and the answer was practical, but my first reaction was WTH?
Two years ago when I was decluttering and packing, a pile of things started to slip. I caught the full weight of the pile on my left thumb and sprained/partially dislocated it. Granted, my joints are held together with rubber bands to begin with, but it never healed right and right now I can turn my hand from palm up to palm down and unless I'm careful the thumb will literally *fall* out of joint without applied pressure or stress. My right thumb is undergoing calcification and deformity of the joint from psoriatic arthritis. Heat us soothing, and though it doesn't improve the condition(s), it makes the afflicted part feel better. I would love a thumb-warmer. In fact, I could use two of them.
Sometimes, all it takes is for that one snowflake to start an avalanche.
Someone tripped the wrong fucking snowflake.
