Yeah, he doesn't really have any interest in that kind of relationship, either. It makes him sound like some kind of player, but that's not the case.
Er, what?? I don't get it.
Things I also don't get: WTF I am supposed to do re: work if I can't fly for 3-4 weeks. Called up the doc first thing this morning, since I am still ear-plugged and feel like there's fluid up in there. And indeed, she said I have a bilateral ear infection. But wouldn't give me any prescriptions (since current studies show antibiotics don't really do anything...but no prescription decongestants, or ear drops, or anything??!) and finally gave me a referral to an ENT, all "Well, you could try to go next week if you don't feel better"--LADY I DON"T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I"M SAYING. IF I WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK TO PLAN WHEN I CAN FLY, I WILL BE OUT OF A JOB. (And when I called the ENT I was told they have to review the referral before I can make an appointment, anyway, and they wouldn't say how long that would take--a few days, maybe, but no promises, THEY"LL CALL ME. THANKS, I TRUST THAT SOOO MUCH. LET ME WAIT BY THE PHONE AS I CRY!)
meara, that's super-frustrating, WTF?!?
How long does it take to review a referral? Are they sending it to a committee?
meara, that first doc=WHACKALOON. Can you afford to see an ENT out of network so that you can get an appointment ASAP? Huge antibiotics AND vacuuming finally put an end to my months of misery last Spring. And yeah, I saw 3 internists before finally seeing the ENT. ENT was the only one who actually "got it".
I'm not so sure about your doctor either . I get that some things do have a wait time, but the pain can be helped, so I'm looking at your doctor sideways
I will cross my fingers for the ENT. She referred me to someone also affiliated with them (the U)...said there were others she could refer me to if they're too busy, but first I have to even TRY to get an appointment, I think! ARGH. Just called my boss who was like "I don't get it, that doesn't mean you can't fly does it?" and i was like "DUH, YES, that's why I'm TELLING you all this...."
Oh meara, I'm sorry. The medical profession as a whole, with a few fortunate exceptions, functions with a lack of empathy for patients. I hope the ENT gets back to you quickly, can see you, and actually has the ability to clear this up.
smonster, heartsick is sick, as someone else said. I'm sorry it didn't work out. Not fair at all.
wouldn't blame the doctor , exactly. but they are people and some are better at understanding than others and some you click with better than others. I really like my doctor, but my Dh doesn't like her -- he finds her way of speaking cold. I find her practical. so ...
and Dh was annoyed that his doctor took so long to recognizes his problem , until I pointed out to him that he only saw the doctor once or twice a year -- and there was no way for the doctor to understand this was a long term on going problem
Oh, I definitely get that some people feel practicality and some feel coldness (I myself am often very brusque and practical, which is to the point and quick, in my mind, but is mean in other peoples' minds!! East Coast, baybee...). Have managed to reschedule a bunch of appointments, and am now not flying until the 20th. Fingers crossed I'll be OK by then!!!
That's great news, meara. Fingers are crossed.
