Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Ok, cousin K just made a funny that actually made me lol. I posted the link to HHGTTG on facebook and other cousin K said "I know the answer!" To which first K responded "Darren Sharper."

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Your cousins just made me laugh, too.

I am trying to decide whether to eat the other half of my tilapia filet or leave it for lunch.

Je suis le tired et le cranky.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Verdict Diagnosis: Pleurisy!

Dude, who GETS pleurisy?!? They tested my oxygen with that finger-monitor thingy (it was 100%), and Awesome Doctor listened to my lungs extensively and said there was NO wheezing and no junk (like lots of mucus) that would indicate pneumonia.

I asked him why the shortness of breath, and he said partially because I was trying to not cough and partially because the inflammation from pleurisy can put enough pressure on the lungs that they feel like they can't fully expand.

So. I got a steroid shot for the inflammation (in the ass; truefax: when I said, "I have to get a shot in the butt?!?", Awesome Doctor said, "Yep, you're getting a butt-shot!"), codeine* because my cough won't go away, and an antibiotic because (1) I've been sick for 3 weeks and (2) I am now blowing green stuff out of my nose. (I know green doesn't necessarily mean bacterial infection, but Awesome Doctor said he really thinks after 3 weeks of an illness that only got progressively worse, antibiotics were called for. So I acquiesced.)

*The codeine is just in the form of Tylenol 3. When I said my cough wasn't helped by the Tessalon Pearls (I know we talked about these in-thread a month or so ago), I said, "I hate to ask for codeine, but..." and Awesome Doctor interrupted, "Why? Lots of people come in here and ask for it!" He asked me if I wanted a cough syrup or pills, and I said, "Oh, definitely pills; I hate cough syrup! I didn't know pills were an option."

And he said that the pill option is just Tylenol 3. Basically the body doesn't give a shit what the delivery vehicle is for the codeine; it just knows it's gotten codeine. So that's cool.

I hope the pleurisy clears up quickly, Steph. As vaguely 19th century-sounding ailments go, I guess it beats consumption.
