Everybody dies, Tracey. Someone's carrying a bullet for you right now, doesn't even know it. The trick is to die of old age before it finds you.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Dang, I've never read the forums at Judgment of Paris, but I've always loved the main Web site's repository of plus-size models and articles about same. It's been a real boost to my morale at times.

That said, DJ's friend is lovely! She rocks that retro-cutie look HARD! (And, I have to admit, I envy that kitchen. Though I don't want Tim to be the primary breadwinner so I can stay home and bake in it all day.)

ION, I just talked to Awesome Doctor's office manager on the phone. She was VERY nice. I explained what happened and said that I was concerned because that kind of mixup could be dangerous if it wasn't caught. And she said she totally agrees, and they don't want things like that happening.

She said that the receptionist is usually better than that, but she ALSO said that that is NOT an excuse for her mistake. She said she would speak to the receptionist, and that some more training was called for.

So, woot!

The aristocratic classes were the warrior classes. That is how the aristocracy came to be--it consisted of the knights who defended the lands and the peoples from foreign invaders.

They're not wrong.

Good job, Steph.

I looked through some of the pictures on Judgment of Paris, and I didn't see many of those women with double-chins. Are there big women out there who manage not to have double-chins, damn-their-genes?

A lot of those women are probably 5' 10" or taller, and maybe a US size 14 (or even 12). For the most part, that's not double-chin size; that's just larger-than-the-Hollywood-ideal size.

When I was a 14 (and even 16, IIRC), at 5' 6", I didn't have a double chin.

Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of plus-size models who are size 18 or above and get regular work. Or, I should say, work that's widespread.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I'm 5'3", but at a 14 and 16 I do have more than one chin. Damn genetics.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Teppy, I'm glad you got some satisfaction from that conversation.

DJ, your friend is lovely, and it is great that she is getting work that suits her and builds her up rather than marginalizes her. I think the commentary was right that in the past full-figured women such as Marilyn Monroe were included in the public view of womanly beauty, so that once upon a time a person with a nice figure such as that of your friend would be considered normal, healthy and attractive rather than "plus-sized". I hope you don't feel it is a reflection against your friend that there is more discussion here about the rest of the BS in the article.

Punishingly Intricate

I'm about a 12/14 (only 5 5"ish) and have a double chin! But angles can make all the difference.

Very chinny (also funny face making): [link]

Not so chinny:

I'm 5'2" and a double-digit size that begins with 2 (Look! Pyramids!), and I've got the plethora of chins. I've also got some nice cheekbones, which helps.
