That's the main thing I love about my area of the suburbs. Where I grew up (in Joliet), we were in the antithesis of "diverse community." Hell, I never tried decent Chinese food until I went to Milwaukee for college! When I first moved up here to the NW 'burbs in 1993, residents were either white or Hispanic, and whites were not recent immigrants, either. That's why I moved to Oak Park after a few years, because I couldn't bear it any longer.
Then, when I moved back here in 2006, everything had changed. My town has immigrants from all over the world, the restaurants range from Russian to Korean to Italian to Mexican to Thai in a few miles, the houses of worship are equally diverse (there's a wonderfully-designed Hindu temple in the middle of the industrial valley I drive through on my commute to work)--it's so incredible how everything shifted in only eleven years.
You should write a column for Time Magazine!
(Only half kidding)
It would be a nice answer to the Stein column, wouldn't it?
Oh, god, today is kicking my ass.
Same here! So I decided to blow off what I brought for lunch today in favor of a sandwich from the cafe next door, which sets up a bbq grill on Wednesdays.
Like the Chipotle, it's tasty, but pretty much fails to sell me on going back, at least any time soon.
I had a pretty good burrito for lunch, from a place I hadn't been. Still haven't, for what that's worth, since coworkers picked it up...
Seeing stuff about Wonder Woman's new outfit reminds me, at some point in Turkey (must have been Efes?), in some context about Artemis, I just spun around in a circle as we were walking, to make a Wonder Woman reference, and my mother totally got it. Good one, mom.
At my old office I'd switched my burrito loyalty from Chipotle to Qdoba. Here, I have neither. So sad.
I am not a huge comic book geek. But apparently, Almost everyone hates Wonder Woman's new costume
I think it's OK.
Also, kinda' a clever way of doing a reboot - I read elsewhere
the gods changed the timeline!
(Is that a spoiler? It's the basic premise of the reboot.)

So much hipper than my mother.
I bumped into one of my former students at lunch. That makes me sad. I miss having students.

If a 30-year-old reference is hip! (I made my mother watch the show with me...)
