A good (but very long) takedown of that Joel Stein piece. [link]
Joel Stein changed his facebook status to: "Didn’t meant to insult Indians with my column this week. Also stupidly assumed their emails would follow that Gandhi non-violence thing."
(Although that article did finally explain to me what's up with the roof on that Indian sweet shop -- I'd always thought that was a really weird-looking roof for that building, but hadn't realized it was a Pizza Hut roof with the logo taken off until I read this.)
we started to understand why India is so damn poor.
No. You don't understand a damn thing. Especially when your follow up is this.
Also stupidly assumed their emails would follow that Gandhi non-violence thing
Sara, I am coming to terms with the idea that Homer destroyed my bath mat while I was gone (I've been thinking I can wash it with bleach and it will be OK, but I am not confident of that...), but I figure that's not a terrible result, all things considered.

I stupidly assume that he is TOTALLY COOL when he is the target of racist commentary and attacks.
Didn’t meant to insult Indians with my column this week.
Then perhaps you should haven't written about how they ruined your hometown and a lot of them are stupid so their country is poor and you think you should have made fun of their religion when you were a kid and how, geez, spicy food makes you feel so alienated.
Also love how he got the line about Indians now looking like Guidos in there, because apparently the producers of "Jersey Shore," "Real Housewives of New Jersey," "Jersey Couture," "Jerseylicious," and "Cake Boss" have made a rule against writing anything about New Jersey without including the word "Guido."
We had burritos at the F2F? Or have I been skimming? Is this a non-burrito place? Or a burrito place at which I had non-burrito food?
No, no - the breakfast place we went out to, just the two of us. Just a fancy little corner place in Noe Valley. You were in love with their eggs and rosemary bread toast.
was surprised (and not a little embarrassed) to discover that Krav Maga wasn't a Klingon thing
Someone missed the trendiness of eight years ago.

Oh, yeah! I mean, I remember going out to breakfast with you, but all the burrito talk made me wonder if we went to a burrito place and I didn't realize it was a burrito place.
Those eggs were so good (scrambled with Jarlsberg and avocado -- I replicate that combo all the time)! Almost as good as the company.
Was there anything on the Daily Show or Colbert in the last week and a half that I absolutely shouldn't miss?
