Hivemind-- what can I do with dried great northern beans that does not involve too much heat? I am inspired by msbelle, but the things I have leftover are things I don't actually seem to want to eat.

I've been soaking all my dried beans in the fridge overnight. Then you could cook in a crock pot to avoid the heating of the kitchen issue. Great northerns are so mild you can use them like white beans on pasta, with butter and cheese.

If there's a quote contest, native Icelanders are in trouble. Which is sort of sad. But if they're Wire fans, they'd expect that, right? I had a friend who used to say that the secret motto for the Wire is "Happy endings are for massage parlors." I wouldn't say it's quite that dark, but almost.
