I kind of love that story out of Iceland. But then, I've seen all five seasons.

Happy Birthday JZ!
Congrats Jess!

I've been soaking all my dried beans in the fridge overnight. Then you could cook in a crock pot to avoid the heating of the kitchen issue. Great northerns are so mild you can use them like white beans on pasta, with butter and cheese.

If there's a quote contest, native Icelanders are in trouble. Which is sort of sad. But if they're Wire fans, they'd expect that, right? I had a friend who used to say that the secret motto for the Wire is "Happy endings are for massage parlors." I wouldn't say it's quite that dark, but almost.
So, how long do I put them in the crock pot? I tend to have crock pot issues because I am gone for 10-11 hours, and that is too much for the crock pot!

On the other hand, at least they're relatively upbeat about massage parlours. They shine as tiny beacons of light in the oppressive blackness of the city!
My Basque stew require about 8 hours in the slow cooker, but I think you could leave it more than that. You wouldn't have to soak the beans.
Made creamed spinach, using up my current batch from CSA. It was nummy. Now I have a ton of lettuce to use.
Creamed lettuce?
