Poor old England. But apparently it was OK that they were put out of their misery.

For once I'm actually rooting for the Germans. As with France in 1998, it's a a wonderfully multi-kulti team, and it's a really good advertisement for the New Young Germany. So as long as blokes called Ozil and Boateng and Gomez and Podolski keep playing well it's fine by me.

(Side note: B. and his best friend L., who is also half British, stood up for the German and the British national anthems, but were rooting for Germany throughout).
