I've really got to learn to just do the damage and get out of town. It's the 'stay and gloat' that gets me every time.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

In other news, Mark and I are planning a trip to New Orleans next weekend to see a college friend of his, and just to visit -- I've never been, though Mark went to Tulane. But it turns out that, um, every single hotel and B&B in the area is booked solid! Yikes! We may try to beg some floor/couch space from his friend, but if that's not forthcoming, I'm not sure what we'll do. I really want to go!

OMG! New Orleans! I live there! I am not sure what our deal is, we might be going to Baton Rouge for a day or two, but let me know if you continue to have problems finding a place to stay- we have a queen sized air mattress here (also 2 cats)

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It is possible that Matilda and Lily are the ultimate reason for the invention of the camera.

The Braves game was very warm. Braves win! Chipper's home run was his 200th in Turner Field and tied him with Cal Ripkin in total homers. After the homer came an excruciating top of the ninth, in which there was a Tigers home run; many foul balls; and many walks, including four in a row to force a run in, before the umpire finally remembered there was a strike zone. The person in front of us was a Tigers' fan who had missed the concept that there is a civilized limit to the amount of trash talking one does about the home team, particularly in the midst of people who are beginning to wonder if anyone has ever been beaten to death with a foam finger. (I bet the foam finger sellers get someone saying "Give me the finger" a hundred times a game.)

I will stop talking about baseball now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I will stop talking about baseball now.

Don't stop on my account.

Lilly and Matilda are in Matilda's crib playing with a huge pile of stuffed animals. Lilly came down on the trip with an entire bag of her favorites.

At a few points, Lilly found Princess and the Frog unpleasantly intense, so we decided to "take a break" from the movie (Lilly was fretful and came into the kitchen to tell me "this room is unreasonable" and that she didn't like bad guys who hurt people) and she walked with me to the corner store to get some vanilla ice cream.

We came back and I smushed up some strawberries to put over the ice cream and all was well.

They are quite enjoying the dressing up and sharing and just being with each other. Truly, Matilda has no friends at school that she feels this intensely about or is so into.

Always Anti-fascist!

Keith Olbermann may not be at work Monday. Because apparently they do not teach "Do Not Feed The Energy Creature" at Cornell and some idiot asked him why he doesn't like Glenn Beck. And retweeted it. And, um, guess who has a new answer *every time?* I don't know whether to be awed or disgusted. Originality points to Gryffindor, though. Loving the Matilda and Lily stories.(Although I was always a dark child who liked stories where villains hurt people, I think.)
