Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I don't usually take a bath when I'm dirty. I use the shower to get clean. Baths are for bombs, bubbles, salts, oils, masks, wine, books, music through headphones and candles.

And that, too.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, ita's way is the Japanese way. I tried to get them to put a floor drain in my bathroom with the tub for this purpose. You're supposed to wash off (with a bucket! but okay, shower is acceptable) and then get in, clean, to clean water that is near boiling temperatures. I mean literally; a proper furo is wood fired. You soak in that, and it stays hot.

And to further the point about hygiene weirdness, multiple people can use the furo because it's clean. Because you washed first.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

"Fish poop" isn't what comes to mind so much as "bacteria". And you know, fish aren't the only ones who poop, and die, in it. You don't know what's upstream from you, or at the bottom.

In 5 generations, not one person in my family has even gotten so much as a cold from bathing in the lake at our summer cabin. (And AFAIK my grandmother is the only person ever to use the shower up there. That bathroom is *nasty*. Give me a nice clean lake any day.)

How funny that I was just listening to someone yesterday about how we're too clean and that's why we have allergies, etc.

I've never gotten sick from it either! It's just, you know, the thought of it. I wasn't such a delicate flower when I was a kid. Of course, I hadn't seen a deer carcass rotting in a river then, either. Scarred for life, there.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Oy. A friend of mine from back home who is a pretty nice lady, but as close to a tea partier as we get, and therefore hates taxes and public works projects, etc. Just posted this.

Why can't we have places like this here in Louisiana? When we go to the Carolinas, there are so many things to do that are run by the cities, counties and/or state. They are well maintained and inexpensive. They just opened this waterpark about 5 miles from my mom's house and Zander is so excited about going.

I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for her to make the connection.

If only! I'd be the least allergic person EVAR.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I didn't grow up around lakes and have never made peace with them. We hung out in and around one when we escaped for weekends at university, and no...it's not my thing. Oceans and running water, thank you. Or chlorine.

I found an entirely forgotten pair of shoes! T-strap mary janes with stacked wood heels. Not every day shoes, but they'll do for every now and again. And they look great.

This is why I don't need to be buying any cowboy boots. But I wanna.

Oh, not that it was the only reason, just that we were doing kids no favors by being hyper-clean (which always makes me flash back to psycho mom who made me boil all her baby's bottles and dishes for 20 minutes and change her diaper using distilled water and cotton balls).

I am totally the opposite, hate chlorine and salt water.
