And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hmm. Looks like the last batch of storms passed us to the south, but at least it's cooled off a bit.

Still going to use the AC in Dylan's room tonight because the mosque next door installed a new loudspeaker right outside his window. Lovely neighbors, really. So considerate. (They also managed to drip mortar all over our yard AND the neighboring daycare's yard during this construction process, which makes me suspect it's being done illegally. All the contractors we've spoken to about our own building's brickwork emphasized repeatedly the amount of protective scaffolding we would need - these guys don't have any.)

I've hit the summer TV lull and have run out of Big Love eps on iTunes. Should I rewatch Angel or Farscape?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I liked Angel better as a show but I am kinda craving sweets, so Skittles it is. Farscape.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

OMG otters! So cute.

Hmm, I've spent the day reading Offbeat Mama, getting my new stepmom muscles in shape for when the boy comes in two weeks!

DH attacked the front hedges of planty death today, and also whacked away at the crumbling masonry on our front porch. There are, apparently, concrete steps under there. Huh.

I have been very lazy, but I plan on being more worky tomorrow. Will clean the office, and the foyer, and this week, I will attack the boy's bedroom. I would like to weed out some of the toys in there before he gets here, and just clean it up nicely and organize.

I know it will be a disaster within a day, but it's best to start off neatly.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I also vote Farscape. In part because I got the box for xmas and want to get into it.

Because books.

I vote anything other than Hannah (Fucking) Montana. If I hear the theme song one more time today, I will cry.

For those of you who care about such critical distinctions, Hannah Montana is unendurable crap to watch and iCarly is mildly diverting. (It's no Ned's Declassified, though.)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Our heat combating plan today was to go to the ice rink. Which worked. It's deliciously cool in there. I need lessons for ice skating though because I want to be better than I am.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

We had a wild thunderstorm here that resulted in my poor father having to drive through water up to the bumper, and everything including their living room rug getting soaked while we were out. And now it's cool and nice out! Of course it's still hot in my apartment.
