Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh msbelle. Strength to you.

Hardison, for sure.

I have some auditory processing issues that are somehow connected to my ADD, and I'm far better off if I have something more than just sound to go on, whether it's facial expressions, written text, or some kind of visuals. So phones and audiobooks suck big rocks, and putting on your glasses to talk to someone makes total sense to me.

OMG, thanks so much for this. When I ask someone to move the flowers or drop their hand, or turn to face me "So I can see what you're saying," I usually get, "Do you read lips?" The answer is "sorta." Because without a soundtrack I actually can't read lips. I've always thought my problem was just a personal failing of some sort, and have never brought it up with the docs. Lately I'd begun to think that maybe it's similar to--or another facet of--the input-screening problem that is how my ADD manifests. But your comment just clicked that idea into clarity, so thank you, really. Huh.

Punishingly Intricate

Lisa, I'm now assuming your friend is awesome (which would not surprise me at all).

YES! She is. And she really does kind of look like Garcia. They sport very similar styles anyway.

Who is Garcia again? Or Alec?

Not sure about Garcia (Criminal Minds, maybe) but I'm pretty sure by Alec they mean Hardison.

ION, having a project manager with ADD who's a chronic babbler is really starting to wear me down. I want to slip him some ritalin or something.

Nice enough guy, I guess, but SHUT AND FOCUS YOU TWIT!!!!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Penelope Garcia = Criminal Minds. Alec Hardison = Leverage.

And I don't think I have any sort of ADD/ADHD issues, but I definitely have a harder time talking to people when I can't see them. This is part of why I rarely want to chat while I'm getting my hair cut.

Don't you look into the mirror to make eye contact with the stylist?

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Happy Birthday, Dana!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is Garcia from Criminal Minds, although she's a redhead now. She's a dropout hacker that was recruited by the FBI and supports the Behavioural Analysis Unit. She's a former Goth, IIRC, and is massively but not irritatingly quirky and keeps the sunshine quotient up in a hella dark show.

And, yeah, Alec is Hardison. Watch Leverage! He's just everything geek. It's nice to see there are so many socially ept geeks to pick from, but he's over-ept. His problem is that he doesn't stop working the crowd, when he really should. But it's cute on him.
