Jessica, I think the parade was after lunch at the Capitol. So 1pm would be a good place to start.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I love denim skirts. With tights and boots, especially.

I have some ME time tomorrow afternoon (like 5-6 hours). I had thought about a spa treat, but right now with money that's not a great idea. Mac will be at the house with a babysitter, so staying there to veg is right out. Here are my thoughts so far:

- take laptop to library and watch netflix movie I have
- use movie pass to go see movie at a theater
- take a photo walk through part of the city (although weather is predicted to be both hot and stormy, so maybe not possible)
- other ideas?

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I say use the theater pass. Maybe find someone on CL unloading some show tix?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I need different lengths of denim skirts. I need to embrace them in all their incarnations. I only have miniskirts.

My rule of...thumb is that if the skirt is longer than my fingers it's not too short to wear to work. But I have one skirt that I got slapped for wearing to work in Michigan that I'm now shy about trying to wear to work here. But I like it! It's such a lovely shade of purple. Polgara has given me a pass on it, but I'm still askeered.

Given that I saw a woman in a tight red ruched minidress here yesterday, I won't be that woman, but still. No need to tempt fate.

I, personally, don't care, but being hit by crazy relative bosses and forced to wear a trenchcoat all day has scarred me.

too hot now!

Oddly, not in LA, not at all. Well, as long as it doesn't get above 80, I'm good.

eta:

Movie pass, msbelle--do you have to use those up before you leave NY?

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

I'm definitely better at understanding speech if I can see the person talking -- I'm really horrible at understanding things over the phone, or museum exhibits that have all the information on an audio track -- but that doesn't seem to carry over to other types of sounds.

I'm the same way -- I have some auditory processing issues that are somehow connected to my ADD, and I'm far better off if I have something more than just sound to go on, whether it's facial expressions, written text, or some kind of visuals. So phones and audiobooks suck big rocks, and putting on your glasses to talk to someone makes total sense to me.

Tom, both of those involve me traveling an hour, being outside (see weather forecast), and probably spending money - 3 strikes.

I think the moviepass will win out. I only have one more that can be used on the weekend, so seems smart to use it on myself. Maybe I'll go to the library, watch one movie and then go to the theater and watch another. I could just watch the movie and knit at the library.

Tino update: dealt with Original Actual Tino today. Tino still Tino. In-person conversation:
Coworker S: What is our table number [at the orientation fair]? We didn't get an email about it.
Tino: It's XX. Did someone try to get hold of me?
Coworker S: I think [flea] emailed you.
Tino: Oh, this week has been so hectic, I'm not reading email.
Coworker S: Huh, that could be a problem.

Seriously, the week things get rolling for your big summer project it's hectic, so you just stop reading email? When you never answer your phone and your voice mail is habitually full? Maybe if you sent out the information people needed in the first place you wouldn't be constantly barraged by calls, eh?
