I'm in the "last day of the conference" doldrums. Anyone who cares already came by. Now it's all booth staff attempting to look perky at each other. Stuck here until noon and already so done with it.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
In a separate post, so as not to infect it with conference ennui:
Happy birthday, Ellie and Dana!
good news/bad news
good news - boss just floated the possibility of hiring me as a part-time contractor post-move to do the work I can do remotely. Good stuff and I can do quite a bit of what I do now remotely with only a little assistance from people in the office (people scanning documents in).
bad news - my co-op is considering raising maintenance and/or having assessments for a largish project. My potential buyer got this info in discovery and is now developing a revised offer rather than signing the contract today as planned. I was not at the shareholders meeting where the possible increases and charges were discussed so I have no idea what amounts we are talking about, but best case scenario is they propose a 50/50 split of a mid-range estimate of a future assessment.
Happy birthday, Dana and Ellie!!!!
Dark chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting.
Lemon vanilla cupcake with coconut-lemon frosting.
All this cupcake talk is making me drool.
Happy birthday to Dana and Ellie!
I want cupcakes now.
So, today I get my "tentative assignment" form from school telling me what I'm going to teach next year. I'm thinking, well, this will not be a surprise. I'm teaching drama and video production and speech.
I get the form and on it: Creative Writing. Wha huh?
I go to the school secretary and show her the form and ask, "I assume I'm still teaching drama and video production, though, right?" She is also confused and shows the principal.
Turns out, it was just a mistake and it's been fixed, but I had a few minutes of serious confusion.
Happy Birthdays, Dana and Ellie!
In cat news, Max was back at the vet yesterday for a follow-up. His lungs are clearer, but there is collapsing and scarring. The biopsy hasn't turned up any cancer cells in his nose, but that only means it probably isn't cancer, not that there's any certainty. He's gained a little weight (he's back over 7 pounds, but he should be closer to 9).
I want to say he's acting more like himself, but that isn't quite right. He's livelier, but he's avoiding us. I suspect in large part because he hates the medication so much. The vet is trying to get trimeth (his new antibiotic) in pill form. Right now it's a liquid, but cats generally hate the flavor -- Max goes ballistic even when we add chicken bouillon to it and follow up with a syringe of water. And he has to have it twice a day.
Poor Max. And poor you and Hubs. I hope the vet finds you the solid form soon.
Poor you guys! Sick pets are No Fun.
