Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I had seconds and am now sated. Phew. Maybe I'll make a pear-apple crisp for Sunday. (I have more pears left than apples, now.)

I think next year for the marathon, I want to set up an unofficial station. Or volunteer with one on the street. I'm not a runner, but I grew up being dad's pit crew for various races and triathalon, and I guarantee I WILL tear up tomorrow, partly because of that, partly because of watching the neighborhood come out and be all crazy supportive. Wanna be a part of that. At mile 22 last year, runners were collapsing out in the median or people's yards. Folks in the houses on 33rd were out bringing blankets, pillows, propping feet up on crates, watering and talking to them until the medics could tend to them. Even the guys in the house who pretty much live on their porch drinking 40s and smoking were being encouraging, in their own trashy way.

Shit like this makes me love my city.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Dana,

The problem with Zappos (or ordering from the Easy Spirit website) is that I need the shoes for next weekend. There's no guarantee that a) the shoes would reach me on time and/or b) the pair I choose fits properly. I know that Zappos has a policy of allowing returns, but that adds time to the whole process. Ah, well, I guess I'll go with the shoes that are too big(6 1/2 WW=EE) for now, and try again later.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

There's no guarantee that a) the shoes would reach me on time and/or b) the pair I choose fits properly.

That's why you order six and return the ones that don't fit!

Though sometimes I worry that Zappos will get mad at me.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Though sometimes I worry that Zappos will get mad at me.

You're in a long-term committed relationship. I'm sure Zappos finds such quirks endearing.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Zappos is one polyamorous relationship I'm staying in.

Trudy, glad they caught this with your sister and she's ok!

I solved one of my meal planning dilemmas this evening by having the kids pick one meal that they will make this week and write down all the ingredients. Liv picked spaghetti (no surprise there) and Owen picked Cheeseburger Deluxe.

lisah! I think my nearest neighbors can cover it, but thanks. I still have your bottle of wine...sigh.

What time do you expect to be going down 33rd? You are totally hitting the sweet spot of the race, huh? Gummi bears, tiger guy, hula hoops... hospital! A coworker is doing the half and I told him I'd try to time it to cheer for him. I'll be to and from the market by then but will head back to the Y around his due-in time (we're going @8:30, and are usually back in an hour)
