Anya: We should drop a piano on her. It always works for that creepy cartoon rabbit when he's running from that nice man with the speech impediment. Giles: Yes, or perhaps we could paint a convincing fake tunnel on the side of a mountain.

apparently Catholics in Belguim are getting themselves de-baptized in response to the priest abuse scandals.

Last year, someone at my (UU) church had a ceremony of defection from the Catholic church, which was her childhood church. I was really impressed that a Catholic chaplain was part of the ceremony, which was lovely and respectful to everyone involved.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Best Buddies

An awesome t-shirt that's a mashup between Calvin and Hobbes and Han Solo and Chewbacca....

Me too! I wrote a letter to the bishop of the parish I was christened in asking to be excommunicated or whatever it is they do, and someone (not him, I don't think), wrote back saying there'd be prayers said for me. Not really what I'd asked for.

Johnny Depp comes to school to help 9-year-old mutiny against teachers

Johnny Depp staged a cute publicity stunt yesterday, showing up at a south London school where a 9-year-old student had sent him a letter asking for help in staging a mutiny against her teachers:

He said nine-year-old Beatrice had written to Captain Jack, asking him to lead a mutiny against her teachers.

Depp, 47, has been filming the latest instalment of the franchise in London.

After his arrival, a special school assembly was called and the film star - along with other members of the cast dressed in full costume - walked in.

Depp produced Beatrice's letter and performed for the children for 15 minutes.

But he told the schoolgirl that a mutiny might get them into trouble.

There's a short video....

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Princess Cruises just hired me!!!!

Yay! Princess has a reputation for treating its employees better than other cruise lines. (It's also the line we sail on for cruises.)

In Max news, the feeding tube went in fine. We're in the "getting it right, but still going slowly" phase of feeding him, and he's getting used to it. And he seems to be feeling at least somewhat better. It's going to be interesting figuring out how to feed him 4 times a day, but Hubs is taking today off, and I'd planned for some time to take next week off.

Really not what you asked for!

There was a form that the woman at my church completedd - let me look up the evite:

a formal Declaration of Defection
(Actus formalis defectionis ab Ecclesia catholica)

I wonder if you could get one of those.
