Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Yeah, I remember Ollies squirting collar!

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

But there are better ways to tackle separation anxiety, which this sounds like.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're correct here. She never barks when my roommates are around. I'd let her in my room while they're gone, but she's still being house-trained.

Holli, I know that Aims and MM have/had a squirting one, rather than a shocking one for Ollie.

I will mention this to the roommates. They know the barking is a problem, but it doesn't actually bother them since they're never home for it.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Do they leave her anything to entertain herself with? A toy with treats inside it?

She has a ton of toys-- I even hear her playing with them for ten or fifteen minutes at a time, and then the barking starts up again.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

The squirting one we had sprayed citronella when he barked. It was awesome.

Unless you were Kristin.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know that Aims and MM have/had a squirting one

Oh, COLLAR.

Sorry. Too much time in the wrong internet places. Better now.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Many good thoughts to everyone with bad stuff happening.

I have successfully emptied one file box! And found a pen with K&B purple ink, though it doesn't say "K&B" on it.

OH COLLAR!!

Ew ew ew.

In order to get THAT out of my brain, I share with you how some 6 year olds validated my career choice in a way that no adult ever could.

Little boy in my class "Miss Aimee, you're a good teacher and I think you should stay a good teacher with us." and then hugged me. And a couple of other kids heard him - in particular one girl who is so soft-spoken and just lovely and I adore her - said, "I think you're a good teaher too and we love you." Then, being 6 year olds and not wanting to be left out of anything, about 5 more repeated it and then all of them hugged me. As soon as I got them separated into their story time groups, I went out in to the hallway to compose myself cause I was crying.

Now granted, I'm totally PMS-ing right now, but damn that felt good. I've finally found something I'm good at and that I love.

Hey Buffistas - thanks for being Buffistas and sticking around during the shitty jobs I've had over the past 8 years. Seriously.

That's wonderful, Aims.

Oh, now you're making me cry.

Partly that is because I am no longer working at the school where I'd been for the last five years (due to shittiness on the part of the guy who runs the after-school program) and I really miss my kids.

...look, I said I was having a rough couple of weeks.
