Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I told Dean Devlin that if Zenyatta wins her 20th race at Churchill Downs in November, I'll change my screen name to Zenyatta.

(She's a racehorse. A 6-year-old undefeated mare: 19 starts, 19 wins.)

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I will be spending the next four evenings with Billy Connelly and on Saturday I'm going to see Macbeth at the Lyric Opera. I may be suffering from some cultural whiplash by the time I start work on The Gin Game on Sunday.

What does one wear to the opera? I may have to shop this week.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

That's spiffy aurelia. Do people still wear opera gloves to the opera? That seems like a must. I mean, how often does one get the opportunity to wear them?

Last MiL update for the night: He reports that his mom is doing well, talking and everything. Phew!

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Unless it's opening night, you don't have to dress up for the opera, but it's generally dressier than the symphony (in that you see fewer jeans). Of course, that may just be because the crowd skews older.

ETA: That's not to say that you can't dress up, just that you don't have to.

Like the more reasonable churches, opera would rather have you in the seat in jeans than feeling like you can't attend because you don't have fancy enough clothes.

BUT YOU SHOULD.

Yes, this is true. But if you have fancy clothes, I think you should wear them. I may be biased.

Do people still wear opera gloves to the opera?

I didn't see any the last time I went to the opera. Mind you, I wasn't wearing opera gloves, either. But I was wearing a tiny top hat, and a skirt with a bustle.

Last MiL update for the night

Very good news!

I don't know about the opera gloves. I kinda dig opera cloaks though.

I can certainly do better than jeans, but I feel like what I do have is probably a little casual for opera.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

So my TiVO is filling up so fast because most of the shows I am recording are recording in HD and that does not seem to be adjustable. booo! I do not need talk shows in HD. srsly. I want my TiVO shows in SD and basic quality and lots and lots of space.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I wanna be sleepy!

Why am I not sleeping? Seriously?
