Vibing hard for everyone to feel better. Yay for Scola's sleep last night!!
I'm on break at class right now. Got soooo much homework to do this weekend, and a big paper to write for next week, dissecting MARC records (ugh). We were talking about searching for MARC entries in OCLC (where they are created for library catalogs), and I mentioned the idea of trying to find an antique book like the Macguffey Reader I have at home, which got the teacher interested. Now I have something to look up when I go home.
I hope you don't because the whole process is fascinating to me, Kathy. Modern medicine, man, amazing stuff. And you seem very on top of it all and in control, which is great.
Oh yeah, seconding that.
Tom! Was so good to see you this week.
My NY trip turned out way more social than my usual travels. Monday night I had drinks with a guy from my old firm who is one of the few people I really miss from there. Good timing too, because it turns out he's moving to Toronto in a couple of weeks. Tuesday I got to hang out with Scola for a while. Wednesday I had an amazing, four hour dinner with one of my dearest (and favorite) family friends at Il Cantinori, and then on Thursday I met a current coworker for lunch at this vegan Indian buffet restaurant that was incredibly good.
Then I made the mistake of going to the airport early to try to get an earlier flight, but it turned out they'd had two flights cancelled earlier in the day so the stand-by list was like a hundred people. Shockingly, my original flight, the last one out of the night, was the only one that day to leave remotely on time though.
Now I'm home, have my dog back, and intend to not go anywhere for the next six months. Give or take.
Yesterday I hit myself in the face with a hammer.
"And Ginger races to the lead in the Self-Inflicted Wounds Derby, passing Hil and Erin on the outside corner..."
My dining room table looks much worse that Steph's right now.
Woo hoo!
I mean, in the sense that I'm not the messiest. (At least, not the messiest for today.)
"And Ginger races to the lead in the Self-Inflicted Wounds Derby, passing Hil and Erin on the outside corner..."
I sorta think they can all just share the gold medal.

They're all champions no doubt, but they swap the lead on an almost daily basis.
Is Cass in that self-harm derby, or does she just do improbable things like set water on fire?
Am off to pick up my mother in a minute--in an amusing change from teenagerhood, I woke up at 8:15 and bustled about and got coffee, and called when I said I would at 8;45AM...and didn't hear back for a bit because she was still asleep! And she's on East coast time!!
Since she is a gardener, we are going to go to Home Depot and a nursery and buy plants and "loppers" and other things, and attack my tiny gardenish space. She discovered last night that I have a GINORMOUS ROSEMARY bush. Who knew? I didn't try to SMELL my plants!

I think it averages out. And besides, no one really wants to challenge them for the lead.
Ugh. I worked on straightening the basement for about 40 minutes, and that's about all I can stand. Got some straightening done.
It's too much to hope for that when the x and her husband are here next weekend, "going through" the mounds of stuff they left in the basement means "putting garbage in bags and hauling it away," right?! Because with the flood, most of it is trash now. LOTS of it was crap that should have been tossed, anyway, before it got wet.
Ugh.
