Grocery store was having GREAT deals today, and I managed to get everything I wanted for the week for about $65. Including coffee beans and stuff for chicken soup, so YAY.

I've always prefered the stew metaphor for NYC. Definite merging of flavors, but ingredients still remain distinct.
In Canada, Canadians were often very careful to describe the US as a melting pot and Canada as a cultural mosaic. Since living here (and having started out in Detroit), I think that's a bit overstated. But talking about distinct neighbourhoods and melting pot--kinda messing with your metaphor there.
I wonder if the meeting-avoidant developer will make it back for the 12:30? I'm betting no.
