But? There's always a but. When this is over, can we have a big 'but' moratorium?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So. It's probably a good thing. It just feels weird.

That sounds like a tough transition. My experience with that kind of transition is that the problem is usually I'm holding on to an idea of myself which is no longer viable. And yeah, that can feel like a failure, but what usually happens is that you are forced to find out who you are now. As we're all mutable and shit. But it is the classic circumstance of letting go of one thing to make another life possible.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Weekend - weddingtastic. Cousin's Nigerian wedding on Saturday*, Will and Alan getting gaymarried on Sunday. LBDs abound! Saturday is LBD with a turquoise linen jacket. Sunday is LBD with a fabulous dramatic necklace and a sparkly wrap. And then, off to the closing night of Chess!

*high chance of drama, seeing as how we went to the engagement party/ceremony last night and my cousin (groom's sister) was ready to cuss out the MC, and my aunt was pissed that they kept asking her for stuff/money at the last minute. Plus, my mother is crazy and refuses to eat or drink anything that's not professionally prepared if she doesn't know the cook (which is why I was scarfing down a pizza last night at 10PM because she wanted to leave before the food was served as not to be a problem). Her issues may be alleviated by a caterer at the wedding, but I don't know. Me, I'm looking forward to the nigerian food, I've never had it before.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Liese, sounds like the job costs more than it nets, so it's reasonable. And you can spend the time doing other things that will help your financial goals, so it makes sense.

Also, there is no reason to thing you are quitting teaching forever, just this right-now gig.

It's ok!

And, by the time I get my degree, I'll be significantly thinner so job hunting won't be as difficult as it would be now.

for the record, I'm glad that you are doing something that makes you happy and more confident, but anyone who wouldn't hire you because of your weight is an idiot, because you are made of awesome, and will be a TERRIFIC librarian. I am well aware of the society that we live in, but I just wanted to say that.

Seriously, you're intelligent, friendly, open, great smile and you love books. What else do you need for a librarian?

Ooh, I like Vortex's weekend!

...mine will be attempting to show my parents around Seattle and not kill them. OMG. They got in last night, and had enough baggage to MOVE here--I was like "really? just because southwest LETS you check two bags, doesn't mean you HAVE to..."

The good thing about this is that there's no more need to try and hide the fact that I fully intend to use my degree to work elsewhere. I was just chatting with my boss about how, if they do let us go say this time next year, I'll be able to finish off the degree full-time and hopefully get a library job soon after.

My mom and I were talking on Sunday, and she was going on about her plans for moving back to Chicago after my youngest nephew is finished with high school in a few years. She was wondering if I would be interested in maybe getting a nice condo with her in the city, but I mentioned that, by that point, I'm hoping to be, let's say, more social and busy in the evenings, and not particularly looking forward to having my mom around to cramp my style! She busted out laughing and agreed that maybe just getting together regularly would be better.

I would rather not go through another version of high school, when my mom was getting more dates than me.

Always Anti-fascist!

I would hire you. Of course, my "library" is awfully small.
