"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I didn't realize that some people thought that roller derby was all fakey and staged.

Banked track vs. flat track. Banked Track is old school roller derby and it was/is fakey, staged and like the WWF. That's what we get around the corner at Kezar Pavilion. Flat Track is the newer roller derby leagues, with punk rock girls and cool tats, and it's not staged.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And I hope no one thinks that WWE isn't really hard and athletic, despite being staged.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We do know people are stupid.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to separate a shoulder when you're flying off the top turnbuckle.

True, true.

Speaking of which, I just got asked if my room reservation from 12:30-13:00 was really for 12:30-1:00, because she "think[s] 13 is military time for 1."

In distracting news, domestic Tom Hardy.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

What am I missing?

What I'm missing is why she asked the question in the first place, honestly. Perhaps I assume too much. I can't imagine not being sure 13:00 is 1PM. Either you know, or you have no idea.

I guess I would still ask, since 13:00 isn't a real time, but could mean 1300 hours, or is a typo (for, say, 3:00).

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Maybe she suspected it was a typo and you needed it until 3?

I have mountains of paper that I need to go through and sort and file, but I'm putting off starting that until tomorrow. Funny that paper management came up here while I was not dealing!
