That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

tiggy, I found these [link] but they are not in the US.

tiggy, could it be Rollasole? [link]

Unless you really them to be metallic-y, I'd recommend getting a pair of tramp shoes. [link] They're just as portable and, well, they're not made of plastic. And I suspect they'd hold up better than something marketed as "disposable." I have a pair I use for on planes & as back-up slippers.

still not quite the ones i saw. damn, there are a lot of "disposable" shoes. i had no idea! i wanted something a little dressy that won't look so obvious that i'm going the comfort route.

The Rollasoles are kinda cool!

I am still swamped and overextended in an unpleasant kind of awful way.

We are currently in the process of pulling a msbelle and finishing up what we have in the pantry and freezer. We had a labeling fail yesterday. Grace is the only family member who gets juice so we tend to batch out one cup servings and put them in ziplocks into the freezer. I also use red wine for cooking, but so infrequently that I do the same. I had an unlabeled bag that was with the prune juice. I suspected that it was cranberry juice (the right color). So K threw it into the blend.

Then when she was done she said, "Was that cranberry juice or wine?"

Hmm.....

I smelled the blend. It was definitely a cup of wine. DOH! I considered just parting out that blend into smaller containers and blending it in with other stuff, diluting it down. Then I thought better of it and figured I'd just toss the whole blend.

Sigh. Better labels for the future is what I learned.

But today, I used up a red velvet cake mix, a container of cream cheese that had been in the freezer (as well as some frozen chicken tortilla soup) and two partial bags of confectioners sugar. Granted it was 111 in the kitchen with no air but I still made cookies since I was told to bring treats for tomorrow; they elected me when I was absent for a meeting.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We are currently in the process of pulling a msbelle

Ooh, this is how one becomes a verb, as in To Nilly or To Meara.

Well yes. Anyone who eats there cupboards clear is definitely pulling a msbelle. I'm not ready to make it a transit verb on its own yet.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Bodies breaking down with age. Check.

We were practicing our karate forms for tournament next month. The sensei had challenged us to do our form "Kung Fu Theater" style. Loud and exaggerated. BIG.

Ok, sure. I'll make a fool out of myself as long as everyone else there was doing it too. I growled my way through and tried to make my strikes and kicks as if I was truly beating someone down. All was fine and good and over the top until my right hamstring said "I'm out". OMG, ouch. I spent the rest of class stretching, came home and took a hot bath, and now I'm spending quality time with my heating pad.

Getting old sucks.

It looks like Target has some of the Rollasoles too. [link] I might check them out in person but the reviews are mixed.

I think in practice, if they're thin enough to be portable, they're going to look like slippers. But it's a wedding -- if at some point you change shoes, odds are that people won't notice. (And/or you can always put your dressy shoes back on after you've given your feet a break.)
