The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Now I want to have wine. I wonder if I have any in the fridge.

Oooh, I have a single-serving bottle of the Bitch Bubbly wine in the fridge! Fizzy pink wine, yay!

Is it Tokaji?

Oh goodness. It was SO CHEAP in Prague in the 90s, we drank it like water, as we did many alcohols. Imagine our surprise when we returned to the states. Oof. It was what, maybe $5 a bottle in Prague?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Purple Cowboy Tenacious Red.

I suspect you bought this entirely because of the name.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Speaking of wines bought for the name, I'm very fond of Folie A Deux's Menage a Trois Red. It's a nice friendly blended red, sells here for about $8/bottle. Great weeknight wine.

As for a special wine, depends on what it's for. For a dinner, I'd go for a Pinot Noir or a Cab, or a Meritage blend. Or maybe an import -- I really like Brunellos and Chiantis from Tuscany. (Make sure to get the DOC label on the bottle.) For after dinner, I love a big fruit-bomb Zinfandel, those are fun.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Screw-tops are on both respectable and bleagh wines. The difference is that screw-top should no longer automatically mean "yucky wine". Many vintners believe the screw-top is better for the wine than cork.

And, yes, those artificial corks are not biodegradable. I have asked a wine company if they take them back and I believe the "cork" manufacturer said they were setting up a program but I've heard nothing more of it.

Wine. woot. com has some deals and their forum there is actually chock full of oenophiles who can tell you what the wine and vineyard are like.

Car breakdown could have been so much worse than it was but it really took a pretty good day and made it crappy. I'm tired & cranky. I could really use a strawberry daiquiri right now but no one delivers.

I think you can still get affordable tokaji at Trader Joe's but not the ones with many puttonyos.
