Sibs less than a year apart must have been at least somewhat common at some point, given that there's a racist term for it. (Irish twins.)
I'm guessing it was a LOT more common before the pill. (And NuvaRing, IUDs, etc. Basically it's easy to forget condoms when you're sleep deprived.)

My OB told me, as a cautionary note, that she had more than once had people show up for their 6-week post-natal checkup pregnant. (Personally, I cannot IMAGINE, from a time, energy, or desire perspective, as well as the fact that I had amenorrhea from breastfeeding until my kids were each 15 months old).

I thought that was a myth. I know at least one woman who got pregnant while breastfeeding a new baby. (Though she could be an outlier.)

yes. However, when the law of their land is based on religion, that gets a bit trickier. If challenged, they will lose this argument, but the statute prevents them from even raising it.

Breastfeeding doesn't necessarily prevent ovulation. It's only marginally more effective BC than the rhythm method.

Not a myth, just REALLY unreliable. It's *possible* that breastfeeding will keep your hormone levels high enough to prevent ovulation - after Dylan was born I didn't get my period back for about 6 months - but it's in no way guaranteed.]
