When I planted fall bulbs last year I put a (gloved) handful of used cat litter on top of each one before covering them with soil. The squirrels left them alone that time, which they hadn't done with previous planting attempts.
Now we've had a couple of weeks without rain and something's digging in my flower bed, trying to find moisture, I think. It's digging up and discarding the bulbs. I've set up a bird/squirrel bath around the corner, so with any luck they'll start going to the open bar rather than excavating my soaker hoses.
I need to get the kids up and to school so I can hit the Lands End factory sale here in town.
Anybody need anything?
oooh, Cash, I'm jealous. I'm in perpetual need of pants to wear to work.
Oh, Lands End. There are so many stores I want to shop at when I get down to the sizes they sell, and that's one of them.
When I was younger, both of my parents promised to give me money towards buying a new wardrobe if I just lost weight. I'm gonna take them up on it now, even though it's 20 years later!!
I had my sleep study last night. So frustrating to try and sleep in a strange bed with a damn uncomfortable mattress and pillows, with wires all over my body that I was constantly worried would be pulled out if I rolled over. I had the lights out at 11:00, didn't fall asleep until after midnight, woke up at 2:00 and stayed awake until around 2:45, and then woke up again at 4:00 to pee (didn't fall back to sleep for another 20-30 minutes), then was woken up by the tech at 6:30 when the study was over.
It looks like I do have apnea (not a big surprise), and she thinks they'll have me come in again to do another study, this time with the CPAP thing on my face for the entire night.
Yay.
Kathy, this whole thing is epic. I'm so excited for you.
You know, I always fail to understand how the setup for sleep studies tells anything about your regular sleep pattern. I know, cycles, blahblahblah, but the thing is? I ALWAYS sleep for shit (as in probably not ever falling fully asleep) the first couple nights in a new place. OTOH, if you want an example of disrupted sleep, guess it works?

Thanks! Even though I was Procastinate Girl for the first part of the year, I'm getting more excited to have it done as I get closer to getting it scheduled. Speaking of, I have to contact my PCP today and make sure she writes her Letter of Support and puts it in my file, and also see if I can schedule a blood draw for the last batch of tests. Then, I get to contact the surgeon's liaison and see if that's all I need to do to have her start the approval process with Blue Cross, so we can finally get the surgery scheduled.
sarameg, ITA. The two I have done have been utterly for shit. One, they let me take an ambien. They do shit to register anything about "normal" sleep patterns. Sleep study is a misnomer; they are apnea studies.
They tell a doctor jack-shit about your insomnia.
Speaking of insomnia...guess who got little to no sleep last night either? Ah, cruel life. The teensiest blessing is that I'm not going straight in to the office, but it's truly tiny.
