Wesley: I stabbed you. I should apologize for that. But I'm honestly not sure how. I think it'll just be awkward. Gunn: Good call. Wesley: Okay.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Boston's segregation is so bad, just ugh. There's a note on the map here [link] that marks the city of Lynn, the only diverse place around. When my old job had a team of four girls from there, IIRC, they were each of a different ethnic background. Generally, the teams from various places were all one thing -- all black, all latina, whatever. The Lynn group was one Cambodian, one Hatian, one Latina (I forget from where), one African-American, I think.

On the food thing, when people ask if I have any food issues, I have started saying I eat anything, but I don't like eggplant, just in case! Because I figure, what the hell. No one has yet told me they were planning on serving eggplant....

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Am watching the Event. I really know nothing about it going in, so.

Dinner shall be RED!

Dinner's not the only thing.

information libertarian

It would be fascinating to get down to block by block level in those maps. The census data probably allow it - they chunk geographically pretty small. I know that both small southern cities I've lived in, it's micro-patches - still segregated in many ways, but in older urban neighborhoods at least, living really really close.

Can't. Type. Reply.

Too busy laughing.

It's funny because it's true.

Because books.

This town is interesting that way. Because it's a college town, and there's an enormous amount of rental property, in the borough proper it's incredibly mixed.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I roasted 4 small beets and a pound of little potatoes thinking I would have leftovers. NSM.

Also, I'm willing to bet, by eyeballing it, my neighborhood has gotten even more mixed since 2000, partly due to the real estate boom in that decade.

I yanked the one ac unit tonight. Yay! But when I took out my trash, there were a ton of rat droppings around my trashcan (which was empty until today, and is sealed, so no idea why they'd hang around it) which is a major BOO. I really need to open up my garage and make sure no one is nesting in there. And if there is? Scream and figure out how the hell to get rid of them without worrying about killing the neighborhood predators. Cause Pooch and Kittyboy do get the occasional rat, and I'd hate for anything to happen to them.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think The Event is supposed to be sci fi, which would make it Boxed Set, but I guess not knowing is the point.

IO9 thinks it's sci fi, anyway. But they can be grabbalicious.

I've only really had carbs to eat today. I should probably just slam a frozen steak on the grill and call things averaged out, right?

I mean, in my vegetable-free world.

Isn't the Event that they get superpowers? That's what I seem to have picked up out of the ether, at least...
