Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm almost tempted to go out and applaud. But I won't.

Yell "FUCK YEAH BOSTON!" just to confuse him.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Hee. I'm trying to have hometown pride. Anyway, I'm going to (apparently) one of the best restaurants here on Thursday, so I'm excited about that.

Herding cats for fun

Hee.

Seriously, this show is giving me heartburn and RAGE. Possibly not the best thing to watch tonight. Coup d'etat of a democracy makes me craxy.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

It's only Tuesday and this week has been frustrating, but a couple of hours ago I found out that I got a raise.

I need to buy a wedding present, and as part of the registry info, the bride and groom have a site where you can pay for parts of the honeymoon. This means I could Paypal them some money for the honeymoon, and what, just bring a card to the wedding itself? I'd feel weird not bringing anything.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yay, Steph is validating my angst!

I no longer think I work for the most fucked-up journal.

I win! oh, wait...

This one journal is the only one we have that works this way. The rest are either normal, sane, published-first-in-print journals, or "preprints", or "rapid post" which is the same as your "Ahead of Print". This journal. INSANE. And the Society doesn't even understand how it works! Three times now I've had to carefully explain why I did something that didn't even make sense to them.

And I've reached a whole new level of gobsmacked. SRSLY.

I KNOW! I have tried to Speak Truth to Power, but Power is covering its ears and singing.

My boss even hinted that this would negatively impact my raise next year. (I don't care. What the hell is that supposed to accomplish, anyway? Retroactive competence?) I love my company, I do, but my department is kinda crazy. What would it be like to work for sane people? I have no idea. Are your people sane? What's it like?

El Vética

I have to have this. I won't even explain it to people; it's MY joke.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

El Vética

That is awesome like a thing that is awesome.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Speaking of NOLA food, apparently the corporate culture at his new place is to go out as an office for 2 hour lunches- today they went to Dominica, one of John Besh's restaurants.

I wasn't feeling great, so I didn't get anything good today, just nibbled at some smoked chicken salad and fried chicken we had in the fridge. Yesterday I had a cochon de lait po'boy at Mahoney's which was a hot mess of awesome.

Our wings are not tired.

javachik - HAHAHA I wish. We edit xml files. Let me just go on record saying that xml is shit for both editing and layout. Why we use it, I do not know.

Interesting! That is a large part of my job (well, my employees'), too. But yeah, we don't use ISI Toolbox for that.

My friends are doing that. Honestly, it's cool with me. I like the idea of buying shares in either tent from REI or a snorkeling expedition. They don't really have much stuff they need, having had a household established for a bit. So I can buy them a bit of fun.

I'll get a really silly, possibly profane, card. And fill it with obnoxious glitter or box it with jellybeans or something weird.
