I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Speaking of moving, I've been going well beyond my physical limits for more than a month now. Now that I'm here (but not unpacked) it must be unraveling because I'm exhausted and all I've done is read 'net, newspaper and make breakfast. I'mma sleep 'til Farmers Market.

The status is NOT quo.

Spidra, ND and I live in Pasadena. He's recovering from gall bladder surgery this week, but maybe next week.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I have a job hunting etiquette question:

Monday afternoon, I got a voicemail from an office I'd interviewed with last week saying that the Executive Director would call me Tuesday for a second interview on Wednesday or Thursday.

I called back that afternoon(there had been an indication to do so "call back the office if you would like to.") and left a voicemail, stating I got the message, and I looked forward to hearing from Ms. S at her convenience.

Waited by the phone all day Tuesday. At the end of the day, I sent an email:

I just wanted to check in- I'd gotten a voicemail yesterday saying that you were planning on calling me today to set up an interview for Wednesday or Thursday. I left a voicemail on the NPN line yesterday afternoon confirming I got the call... (just in case.)

Anyway, I'm terribly sorry to bother you, I know how busy you must be. But I wanted to let you know that you could call me in the evening if that was better for you. My number again is: 617-515-3948.

A quick thought on my availability- I have availability tomorrow afternoon (though since I'll be on the go for most of the morning, I'd need to speak with you about that tonight) and, at this point, all of Thursday.

Again, sorry to bother you, but I wanted to make sure that I didn't let the communication get derailed, if there was something I should have done after getting your intern's voicemail yesterday afternoon.

So anyway, here we are on Thursday afternoon. Should I call again? Should I just accept the fact that it's New Orleans and shit sometimes takes a while and just relax and wait?

Thoughts?

Much recovery-ma to him. I'm sans gallbladder as well. Oh, what a medieval chirurgeon would say about my and my humors...

Look forward to seeing the pair of you when you're rarin' to go again.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Well, he did need glasses, but he's got some cute little gold tortiseshell glasses on the way. He seems pretty ok with it right now; we'll see how it goes when they come in, and he needs to start wearing them.

Ugh. I am starting to go through some stuff for my friend's garage sale tomorrow, and it is such a pain in the ass. A large part of the stuff we need to get rid of is in the basement, and water-damaged, so I can't sell it. Most of it is the ex's stuff. Can't toss it until large-item pick up in the fall (I am interpreting large item pick up as shittons of crap.)

Some of the stuff is saleable and not damaged; how evil would I be if I threw it in the sale? Most stuff I have no compunctions on, but there's a couple of nice jewelry boxes that I am hesitating on; I want her stuff out, but I also don't want bad karma biting me on the ass.

Nora, I would maybe do it tomorrow, but not today, for sure. It sucks, and maybe it's an indication of whether or not this is the right place for you to work, but with the market being the way it is, employers can kinda be slow if they want.

Ha! There is a bit of that. I would actually ask K's babydaddy. He went through job hunting down there, so he'd probably be able to tell you stuff like, "Yeah Tuesday really meant next Tuesday."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think shit sometimes takes a while where ever you are, especially when the place is short-staffed.

I agree- I am mostly being thrown by the specifics of the promise to call, I think.

I'll leave it. They know I'm interested, willing, and able.

DJ: You know, I just assumed they were married? How very heteronormative of me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I can envision a scattered ED asking the assistant to call you to say she would be calling, "So then I really have to make the time to do it."

I was going to ask if it was a small place, but honestly, my whole interview situation here was like that, and this place is huge. YUGE!
