A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Well, he did need glasses, but he's got some cute little gold tortiseshell glasses on the way. He seems pretty ok with it right now; we'll see how it goes when they come in, and he needs to start wearing them.

Ugh. I am starting to go through some stuff for my friend's garage sale tomorrow, and it is such a pain in the ass. A large part of the stuff we need to get rid of is in the basement, and water-damaged, so I can't sell it. Most of it is the ex's stuff. Can't toss it until large-item pick up in the fall (I am interpreting large item pick up as shittons of crap.)

Some of the stuff is saleable and not damaged; how evil would I be if I threw it in the sale? Most stuff I have no compunctions on, but there's a couple of nice jewelry boxes that I am hesitating on; I want her stuff out, but I also don't want bad karma biting me on the ass.

Nora, I would maybe do it tomorrow, but not today, for sure. It sucks, and maybe it's an indication of whether or not this is the right place for you to work, but with the market being the way it is, employers can kinda be slow if they want.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Should I just accept the fact that it's New Orleans and shit sometimes takes a while and just relax and wait?

Ha! There is a bit of that. I would actually ask K's babydaddy. He went through job hunting down there, so he'd probably be able to tell you stuff like, "Yeah Tuesday really meant next Tuesday."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I think shit sometimes takes a while where ever you are, especially when the place is short-staffed.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I agree- I am mostly being thrown by the specifics of the promise to call, I think.

I'll leave it. They know I'm interested, willing, and able.

DJ: You know, I just assumed they were married? How very heteronormative of me.

I can envision a scattered ED asking the assistant to call you to say she would be calling, "So then I really have to make the time to do it."

I was going to ask if it was a small place, but honestly, my whole interview situation here was like that, and this place is huge. YUGE!

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Today I actually had to say, "Whether or not I smile is on me, not you. You don't have that power or responsibility." Totally hurt his feelings, yet I totally don't care.

This is the right thing. I hate to hurt people's feelings, and will avoid it if/when I can, but what this comes down to if hurting his feelings briefly so that everyone can be happy later. Of course, this may be a knee jerk reaction to people telling me to smile, because it enrages me.

Ha! No, but most people assume that. In fact it was a very conscious decision to have the kid and not get married. Neither of the K's are married to their significant others.

Punishingly Intricate

Erin can you box some of her shit up and just mail it to her?

Jen sorry about your sitch. Sounds like you made it clear to the guy to back off. Not sure what else you can do but keep repeating that.

meara - Jul 29, 2010 12:20:02 pm PDT #15296 of 30001

Or even, Erin, tell her "Do you want X, Y, and Z? If you don't let me know by (date), I'm going to have to donate it, I'll give you the receipt for tax purposes...otherwise, it'll be $xx to ship it"
