Heh, when I lost my MA license a couple years ago, all I had to do was go online, fill out a form, submit a payment, and I got a copy in the mail like MAGIC.
Crazy future world.
I just had a frustrating meeting with a really nice person who does interesting work, and yet has no idea what she would have to do to work effectively with my department. Ah well.
Stephen Fry to do a language series for BBC
Can someone tell me a nice way to write, "Please do your job and fill out this fucking spreadsheet I spent time making so that you wouldn't have to...do your fucking job and put requests in on time."
I am at the end of my rope this week and it's only Tuesday.
Aside from the above, I have people suddenly caring about a project I spent time gathering everything for, making sure everyone's needs were met, and now people are emailing whining about placements. Where were you when I created the schedule and emailed it to everyone for suggestions and additions?
Also people who can't be bothered to look at the calendar I manage and when I tell them a spot is taken, they tell me to push back on the other department because their thing is bigger. To you? Maybe. I doubt other department feels the same. And if your thing is so huge didn't you know about it over a month ago? That probably would have been the optimal time to be sure you got the best placement.
I was also cranky with people downstairs who don't seem to understand that this is an office building, so just loitering and moseying in high traffic areas is likely to get you mowed down by me on my way back up to my office.
TF? The application form for the permanent position wants three people not related to me who were not my supervisors as references. Does one populate this with previous co-workers? I do have two on my references list.
But, honestly, they're not going to call them, right? Right?
Ok, which LAistas are going to come here with me: Villains' Tavern? Steampunk Victorian bar! The owner said it's what would happen if Jimi Hendrix and Jack the Ripper opened a bar in the 1860s. Awesome.
Better yet, which Buffistas want to come VISIT and go with me?
Does one populate this with previous co-workers?
That's what I've generally done.
Or other people I've known in a professional setting (i.e. clients, co-members of a professional association etc.)
Does one populate this with previous co-workers?
Yes, or as DJ says, other people you've known in a professional setting. I've been one of those references for various friends before.
I swear my last job asked for three personal references, which I think is just weird.
