Compassionately intolerant

My freshman roommate was a squeaky clean, Job's Daughter, fun-loving extrovert. Me? Cynical and emo as all getout. Ultimately, she pledged a sorority and asked me to join her. I got about 4 questions into the application and demurred. Not my cuppa. I ended up going from patient bemusement over their antics to wrenching my dorm room door off of the hinges in rage. eta: Sadly, the last time I saw her, she was married to a local drug dealer (who lived across the hall from us that year) and was so strung out, (with creepy, bloody eyes I hope never to see again) she didn't even recognize me. Sad.

Sophomore year, I had the second best room on campus with a troubled young woman who ultimately moved to the 'quiet' dorm and was replaced by a...creature. Soph2nd projected wide eyed innocence at the same time she was screwing the captain of the basketball team on the bottom bunk (Yes, I was on the top) and logicked it away by saying she wasn't having sex, the light was on!

Again, my open-minded patience led to emotional bloodshed. blahblah, long story...I ended up having the awesome room to myself for much of the year. I served as a campus 'hostess' trying to keep visiting prospective students out of the clutches of frat boys. I convinced the housing director that the girls could not get the 'real college experience' if they were camped out on the floor. Shazam! Single-ish room!!

I got married that year as well, so off-campus housing from that point on.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Scale model of Bag End built by mother of twins in her spare time. Way to make the rest of us feel inadequate! Also, GIMME. NAO PLS.

Wowza.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

26-plus bad-ass characters with memorable tattoos.

Hey, Winchesters! I wasn't expecting TV.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I was looking at Bag End and Liv walked up and said, "That's the house from Lord of the Rings!"

I'm so proud!

Once Owen can tell the difference between Romulans and Vulcans, my job is done.

It's all about the dumbness of the haircuts.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It was so narrow that my bed pushed back under a built-in vinyl-covered cushion to make a sofa during the not-sleeping times.

Two years in Cole, one in McGill. (We obviously lived in the same dorm, some years apart. They were built with war surplus materials to house the GI Bill students and the heat never quite made it to the third floor. All their flaws were offset by not having a roommate.)

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I was reading Megan's going "wait there was somewhere else that had a setup with 5 person apartments where one person got the single? How weird!"

I was in a three-person suite with one single and one double. I had the single, thank dog. All the other rooms in the building were singles, but this one was formerly the infirmary.

When my mother was in college, they had maids.

We had that too!

One of the other dorms on campus was formerly an old folks home and so a lot of the beds were those high hospital beds with wheels. It was also at the top of a very large hill. The combination of those factors led to some Very Bad Ideas being put into practice on a semi-regular basis.

hip deep in pie

When my mother was in college, they had maids.

We had maids! Once a week they came and vaccummed and emptied the trash. Often they also made my bed, even though that wasn't part of what they were supposed to do.
