Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Chickens are wretched, nasty, mean, delicious creatures.

What is Nathan holding? Looks like a giant metallic spider.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Suicide while sleepwalking is a real nightmare

Melissa Dahl writes: A man jumps out a fifth-story window. A woman marches into oncoming traffic. Another woman loads a gun and shoots herself. All appear to be open-and-shut cases of suicide, but, then again, maybe not. In rare cases, such deaths could be caused by something called parasomnia pseudo-suicide, experts say.

In other words: It’s possible to kill yourself in your sleep.

Recently, the New York Times reported on such a case. On the morning of May 30, a young, promising designer named Tobias Wong was found dead in his New York City home; he’d apparently hanged himself in the night. But Wong had a known history of insomnia and extreme sleepwalking episodes, among them billing clients, cooking a steak dinner or even creating silly outfits for his cats, the paper reported. His sleepwalking condition had apparently worsened with the stress of growing his design business.

Could his death be a tragic result of his sleepwalking?

Compassionately intolerant

Quick hivemind question of a minor technical sort.

I'm setting up Skype for the first time...I know, I know...and am wondering if there is any reason to obfuscate one's identity on same.

--Can your profile be seen by folks other than the ones you call?

--Am I going to want to use it in some anonymous way at any point?

Originally posted in tech, but I am moving it:

I don't know if this counts as techy, but about 4 months ago, I decided to stop my Starbucks in the morning habit. I was going in every day for a Misto (au lait) and one of their sandwiches (on my way to the office). I needed to quit this expensive habit. I made coffee in the mornings at my house, but what I really craved was the steamed milk - hence the Starbucks stop.

I went to Macy's ostensibly to buy a combo espresso machine, but I realized I didn't need the espresso part. So I bought this: [link]

(I don't have any other Keurig products - I just use the steamed milk with some French-pressed coffee.)

It's worked perfectly. I haven't stopped at Starbucks in the morning since, and I make my sandwiches at home.

That linky no work, java.

One of my exes loved steamed milk with vanilla, so I found her an old fashioned, stovetop milk steamer at Cookin' the store of Used Gourmet Appurtences.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

For the record, today is the perfect summer day here. Not too hot, not too humid, nice and sunny.
