Tom does a thing where he toasts the steelcut oats in butter, then covers them in boiling water overnight- then he cooks it up with the milk and raisins in the morning. It's quick enough for a weekday breakfast without having to go instant or use rolled oats.
Mmmmm!
I have a cat on me and am watching 30 Rock. I have a thing to go to tonight, that I'm kind of not really looking forward to.
President Obama is just hanging out with the CBS Sports commentators talking ON AIR at the Georgetown/Duke game. ok, it's over now, but it was adorkable.
Well i had things I could have done last night , but I was too tired. Two asthma attacks last night, which explains the tired.
I am now in the mode where sitting on the couch , I feel fine. but getting up to sweep , exhausted me.

this is perfect for me, and solves two of my problems! Thanks for this!
Beth, I'm sorry about the asthma. Not fair about the tired, but I'm glad you can at least enjoy slounging.
Does anyone here know what yeast extract is? I am trying to use up some turnip, and I found a recipe for vegetarian "cornish pasties" that sounds good, but at some point you mix yeast extract and milk and stir it in. I think it is being used as a thickener, so maybe I could use flour?

I also have a whole bunch of leftover glop from beef stew (I had too much liquid, so when I thickened it, it was still too much liquid). Maybe I could use that?
Yeast extract is Marmite or Vegemite.
Ok then. I think I can safely skip it
I was just watching a British reality show called Come Dine With Me and one guy used marmite as the secret ingredient in his chili. I think those who love it, love it in everything.
