I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Does anyone have a (low fat) broccoli preparation they like? I have a big bag of florets and am not finding as much options as I would with spinach or other green veggies. I've liked it with currants/pignoli and mashed into pasta, but looking for something different but still with a soft texture.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've had good luck steaming florets over a pot of water with some garlic butter or Italian salad dressing drizzled on the tops.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I like it steamed without anything, but I'm assuming you'd already know if you did.

Fixit fic for today's xkcd cartoon.

brillig

I didn't cry at xkcd either. They were talking to Spirit all the time, though it was more in the "Now go over there. OK, now go over there." Like your mother-in-law when you're driving her around town.

edit: So this may be more Spirit's way of saying, "Well, you can just come up here and FIX me, dammit! I'm not moving another inch!"

I think the Resolutionists' reign is done. Went to the pool and for the first time, it was back to normal for a Friday night- lane to myself! I celebrated by swimming the mile and a half. Now I have a mug of soup and feel nicely stretched.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I think the Resolutionists' reign is done.

It is almost February.

There were all these 13-15 year olds dressed up in ties and sunday best in the lobby, asking for donations to send the to DC for a mock-gov't thing (the Y sponsors them.) They were so adorable and earnest. I'll take some money over to them, in honor of my high school US History teacher. The kid who talked to me had a very good spiel and I had fun talking to him. I love this community.

Tossed with a tsp of olive oil and roasted in the oven. Not attaractive, exactly, but tasty. Or sauteed with olive oil and garlic and crushed red pepper.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I found out there's a place in LA where this is a combo meal: "port & stilton burger, sweet potato fries, carmenere red wine." So, screw the low fat broccoli. We going there tonight!
