ION, Getting closer to practicable fusion.
Construction will also be underway this year the fusion reactor ITER in France. If it is successful, the engineering knowledge will used for the follow-up DEMO reactor that will be a prototype commercial reactor putting power on the grid. The estimated date to have DEMO producing energy is 2040. There are a lot of ifs in there, but there are plans to have commercial reactors in the latter part of the century.
The Lawrence Livermore effort is a different approach than ITER and DEMO, so we got two shots at fusion power coming up.
The moon cancellation was a long time coming. For various reasons, it really looked like a boondoggle.
moon cancellation
This prhase by itself made me do a double-take. Like, are we talking Chairface Chippendale, or Death Star at full capacity?
(KaBOOM.)
Hah. Oops, left out a word there...
Heh. Maybe "moon cancellation" means we'll stop making payments on the moon, resulting in it being repossessed.
UGH
:P indeed.
I'm not sure how much New Guy intended me to lie for him. He's quite patently not at his desk, and someone just came to look for him because he's missing a meeting he scheduled. I have my best clueless face on, just like I did yesterday when Boss came looking for him an hour after he should have been in.
Maybe NASA needs to start looking into bovine-based lunar transit.
