Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I've stayed at jobs longer with each one. My last one was 2.5 years, and this one will HOPEFULLY be 3.5 years.

My jobs do not tend to bring new and exciting challenges, so after I've been through the cycle a couple times, I'm ready to move on.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Fiona! I'm so sorry to hear!

I don't know how I'd feel about six months warning -- it gives you time to prepare, but it could be a long period of mourning, too.

Still, it's more civilized than coming into work one morning and being greeted by a security guard with a box of your possessions....

hip deep in pie

I know several people who are deaf in one ear and do fine. Except for not waking up for anything when they sleep on the good ear and turning their head to hear better sometimes.

You have just described my dad. Except that now that he's 81, he has a hearing aid in his good ear.

I'm so sorry, Fiona.

My first job was about 2.5 years, the next one 9 years and I'm in year 3 of the current one. I'm starting to look for a new job, but I'm going to be pretty picky - I'd like more money and a different employer, but I love the people and the hours here.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I'm just past three in my current job, but for once I'm not feeling burned out and antsy for a change, so that's good.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I think at my next job, I really need to power through the 2.5 year point which it seems is when I get antsy. If this company were not moving and I were not moving, I could see myself staying here for years despite many drawbacks. I have had 2 jobs that changed office space that doubled my commute, and both times it contributed to my decision to leave.

At the moment, my big hang up is the job I have my eye on is a gov't position, so only 10 holidays/year. I have over 20 where I am now, plus 24 vacation days + 18 sick days.

I'm lazy!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm on year 5 at my current job, which is the longest I've ever worked anywhere.

Huh. This conversation just made me go and check and I've now got another 5 PTO days per year. Of course, I've never yet managed to take all of my existing 18, and they don't roll over. But maybe I'll have to make an extra effort this year.
