I'm just past three in my current job, but for once I'm not feeling burned out and antsy for a change, so that's good.

I think at my next job, I really need to power through the 2.5 year point which it seems is when I get antsy. If this company were not moving and I were not moving, I could see myself staying here for years despite many drawbacks. I have had 2 jobs that changed office space that doubled my commute, and both times it contributed to my decision to leave.
At the moment, my big hang up is the job I have my eye on is a gov't position, so only 10 holidays/year. I have over 20 where I am now, plus 24 vacation days + 18 sick days.
I'm lazy!
I'm on year 5 at my current job, which is the longest I've ever worked anywhere.
Huh. This conversation just made me go and check and I've now got another 5 PTO days per year. Of course, I've never yet managed to take all of my existing 18, and they don't roll over. But maybe I'll have to make an extra effort this year.
Jesus, xkcd is not supposed to make people CRY.
On the flip side, Matthew Bomer is very pretty.

Oh, jealous. I went from being super-spoiled in the Peace Corps (24 days off a year which I only had to use for international travel, since I could always make visiting my fellow volunteers "work-related" plus Moldovan holidays, which believe you me are plentiful, plus basically unlimited sick days) to state government (8.19 hrs/month vacation after five years plus 11 days holiday plus 12 days sick leave). I can never accumulate any vacation. After volunteering in NOLA in March, unless they let me use Community Service Leave, I'll have about an hour left till the next month.
In year 1 of current job. 2 years in job before that. 11 years at company before that (3 different jobs, but 7 years at the last one). I suspect some more hopping before I settle down, but I don't expect any hopping for next year. Teachers are getting laid off around here like whoa. I've heard of at least 275 layoffs in just 2 districts in the past 2 weeks. My district has not made any announcements about layoffs, but they have until end of March to decide.

And he's on Ellen today!
